Agree--with the note that Megan Vogel, on one of TV's live chats, did make mention of how much refining AJ and staff do. She was projecting how good Dietel will get under AJ's coaching.

Arguably, IMO, one of AJ's strong points is player development--the level of refinement he and his staff give their players--both in individual play and as a unit.

Here's a complaint lodged in the Minn. gophers forum, seems this is a common complaint in WBB,quote. "In the half court offense, the wings rarely penetrate for mid-range jumper,Buford did occasionally, but this must be a key component of the half-court offense."This sounds eerily similar to this discussion.Just throwing this out to show a lot of basketball team forums bring up different things, I think ,just for the point of discussion mainly.Nothing wrong with a dicussion going on about certain things, as long as mutual respect is given .

And I stand by my skepticism that USD will be able to field a top 25 WBB team anywhere in the near future. Ditto NDSU.

                That was a real stretch.

:snort: so USD won't field a top 25 team any time soon but somehow they are in the same class as SDSU, they can compete with SDSU?

Let's focus on the assistant coach position. There are no shortage of how USD<NDSU<SDSU threads that this tangent could be moved to.

Terry has an article ths morning about coaching assistants and the priority to have those positions filled in order to meet the mandates of the Summit league. According to the article the Men BB will get another assistant

I read that article and thought 'what coach ONLY works 2000 hours in a year?'

Let me clarify the information in TV's story on the assistants and some of the earlier comments here. Each year since the move to Division I, the budgets prepared under athletic director Fred Oien, called for the addition of coaches and scholarships over the transition perid. This FY budget, which I saw last summer, provided for the addition of 11 positions, including the assistant coaches for the two basketball programs. Tightness of budget probably means all of those positions won't be filled, but the assistant coaches are and were, a priority. Help for the administrative area, sorely needed, may be passed up because of financial constraints. The Summit League mandates are a year away yet.

Good info. I hope the administrative positions aren't far behind. We're going to burn some more good people out up there if we're not careful.
                            Holy nutmeg!

The ticket manager, Christi Williams, makes $30,400 a year. That is flat shameful. That young lady works her tail off, listens to more complaints (day in and day out) than an athletic director ever will, and has to be a great public relations representative for the entire university. Yet, some will say, "Well, that's the way it goes. Maybe next year things will be better."

                              It isn't right. Period.

That is a position classification issue, and it isn't right. I left over just such an issue, especially when a new hire was made with no related experience and less education than myself, and was set to make over $40K a year. Wasn't right then. Still isn't right.

Hopefully as the years progress some of the salary issues can be resolved, but it will take some budging on the BoR part I would assume to allow reclassification of some positions on campus.
