  • Ok.. I am ready for basketball...

I love summer, I will enjoy volleyball and football, but in all seriousness... I am SOOO ready for basketball. This place became an addiction during last season and now I check in and am disappointed when there is nothing new posted...lol

    Ok, back to work...

Ya, but it's better than Rebkell's Junkie Board (which is actually not bad)

for tracking what's happening in WBB circles.

BTW BIG Kudos for explaining the Pork Classic, etc to our non-SDSU friends at Rebkell.

Been reading a lot of "tweets" from wbb coaches, just about all of them put thier incomming players through a trial by fire conditioning & strengthening program.I guess this is where they learn that a "free" scholarship isn't exactly "free" after all, it's paid for with lot's of sweat and aching muscles. On the bright side, the next four years these players will probably be in the best shape of thier lives, providing they don't get injured, hopefully.

I just got through posting (implying(sp?) that the women were probably gasping for air, after running umpteen reps of wind sprints or whatever, & then SJ post's "camping jacks".That's good also, like to hear that it's not basketball all the time 24/7.I like to hear they're having fun too& making good impressions on people, we really do recruit the "best", IMHO.

They got two days off and then it was back to teaching at a basketball camp for younger girls at Frost. When we talked to Allison again she was going home for the 4th.

I'm also ready for basketball. We can get some chatter going on this site to quench our thirst for the Jackrabbit teams....at least a little bit.

I'm ready, someone start a topic, let's generate a little interest here, i'll throw my 2 cents worth in the discussion. It's been pretty boring on this sight latelyok...I'll start it out "What's our record next yr" maybe a prize of that good old delicious SDSU ice cream to the closest to the actual record predicter.Let's see, OOC schedule is very tough this year, we'll be putting the pieces to a relativly(sp) new team with lot's of experienced veterans, so we should win half (about) of our toughest ooc games(conservative 1/2 , hopefully better)so that's roughly 3 losses out of seven games(close, competative losses, but losses none the less) ,the conference should be tougher this year, don't know if we'll dominate it like last year , so maybe 3 more losses there, that's six losses, but by the end of the year we're very, very good & win the auto berth.what's the record for the reg season & the tournement....I'll say 26-6.This is purely speculative on my part. i didn't have an idea of how good last years team was until the "exhibition" game against the "mustang's" of sothwest minn state u.It seemed to me the jacks were just toying with them, & by the way SMSU was a very very good div 2 basketball team.So for me to make an actual assesment of the team , i'd have to watch them play, which, i can't do til the first exhibition game of the season.

I agree with Mr. Daniels for the OOC. I think 3-4 losses, all OOC. Arizona St., U-VA at Jam, better watch out for Mid TN St.

In conference, Jacks will roll with 1-2 hiccups on the road. Oakland and ORU most likely places. Jacks win Summit Regular Season, and take advantage of the home-like Summit tourney to again get seeded in the top half of the NCAA's.

Highest ranking in coaches and media poll, 19.

Re: Ok.. I am ready for basketball...

I've got 27-5 regular season, with one of those losses coming in conference.

I see a few of those losses coming earlier in the season with our tough OOC schedule. That might prevent us from climbing higher than 18 in the polls.

Re: Ok.. I am ready for basketball...

Lets see, in my completely biased opinion....

                        Out of Conference

                        Wins
Gonzaga, @ Illinois State, Western Kentucky, Charlotte, If we get Indiana, , @ Utah, Northern Iowa, USD

                        Flip a coin...
Give us the win - Middle Tennessee State (only because we are at home, could be the only game we lose at Frost this year)
Give us the Loss - @ Iowa (This one I am road tripping for)

                        Losses
@ Arizona State, if we get Virginia,

                        Conference Schedule...
I don't see anyone closing the gap enough to take either reg season or tournament championship from us.

I think Oakland lost to much and while they will be good, I don't think they will be as good as they were last year. The if factor for me is the fact that we go there so late in the season, they might have had enough time to really come together and shock us again, but I don't think AJ will let the girls forget last year.

NDSU, I think will make significant strides but will be VERY young. They could come out super fired up and steal one, but just doesn't feel right this year to me. A lot of it will depend on how good a coach Carolyn DeHoff really is.

The rest of the league, I just don't see it happening. I like my blue tinted glasses.... But we all know in basketball, there are games that can slip away from you.

Part of what makes Jack's ball so fun is they are really a group that enjoy playing together and, while there are "stars" on the team, there really are not any divas. How we fill in the holes left by Wark, Muck and Oisted will be the biggest question mark of the early season (like I am telling anyone, anything they haven't thought themselves.

I am excited to see Cala Westergard play. If she can step in and take significant minutes inside that would be a HUGE asset. Other returning players I expect to see in much bigger roles are Vanessa Johnson (I see her becoming the floor leader when Macie is out) and Jennie Sonnaborg.

As for the Freshmen, until we know who is redshirting and see them play it is all conjecture anyway, but I am expecting great things from this class.

I'm thinking we have a good shot at a win at Iowa. That program had a decent year last year, but more often than not, Bluder's teams have been a big disappointment. I find it hard to imagine (as an Iowa alum) her team not having its usual letdown next year.
                          Holy nutmeg!

I talked to Macie about last years loss at Oakland and she said they learned a valuable lesson from it and will not let something like that happen again. From the last two games against them especially at the Summit League championship I think they did learn something. Never underestimate and never give up.

This team will lose three games at best and will go undefeated in conference!

They are deeper and more talented than lst year and that is taking nothing away from the Seniors but we are getting more and more athletic and bigger!
