Well I was looking at some stats for the Horned Frogs and it appears that SDSU has a sizable advantage in rebounding. In fact the Horned Frogs really give up offensive boards.

TCU gave up 483 offensive boards in 30 games or 16.1 per game

SDSU gave up 321 offensive boards in 33 games or 9.7 per game

Another stat that I found interesting is that SDSU has had 18 opponent players foul out in a game and SDSU has not had anyone foul out this year. TCU has had 5 players foul out this year and none of their opponent players have fouled out this year.

SDSU also forced 172 more turnovers than TCU this year or about 5 more per game.

            Go State!!!
            Go Jacks!!!

Good job on the stats NorCal,was wondering how we matched up against TCU.Looks pretty good to me
All the hype & hoopla aside, it comes down to playing the game on the court, I think we do that as well as anyone in the country.
So let's jump on that wave they call the NCAA tournament , & stay on it as long as we can. It'll be a fun , exhilerating, exciting ride

Here is a release from TCU's website. Looks like the last time they were in the tournament they were a 10 seed and lost by fourteen to the 7 seed. Hope history repeats itself!

Re: How To Barbecue Horned Frogs: A Game-week thread

Well I decided to spend my lunch hour looking at more stats, here is what I found.

We have two comment opponents, Maryland and Utah. Since Utah was a home game for SDSU and TCU played them twice, I only considered the home game for TCU against Utah. TCU won both games and SDSU split the two games.

To get back to the offensive rebound stats, TCU gave up 24 off. rebounds to Maryland and 17 to Utah. For a total of 41 in two games, or 20.5 per game which is above their average of 16.1 per game.

SDSU gave up 9 off. rebounds to Maryland and 8 to Utah. For a total of 17 in two games or 8.5 per game which is slightly less than their season average of 9.7 per game.

For Turnovers, Utah forced 17 turnovers from Maryland and 13 from Utah for a total of 30 for both games.

SDSU forced 24 turnovers from Utah and 17 from Maryland for a total of 41 for both games. SDSU averages about 5 more forced turnovers per game than TCU during the season.

This is a small sample size, but it does appear that TCU gives up about 7 possessions per game in rebounding and SDSU also gains about 5 possessions per game in creating turnovers. That would give SDSU an extra 12 possessions per game. In a game like this possessions will be huge and hopefully the trend will continue on Sunday.

                    Go State!!!

Just got some love from ESPN on a women's selection special. Kara Lawson (2008 olympic gold medalist, Tennessee point guard 1999-2003) picked the Jacks to make the Sweet 16.

Okay, she actually said we "could" make the Sweet 16, but it sounded like a pick to me!

The other analyst talked about how we have tall players who can shoot from anywhere, and she referred to Warkenthien as a "superstar." Awesome.

Sat. first round "upsets", Xavier got beat by Gonzaga, Texas & DePaul both lost to higher seeds as well , we want to stay off the upset list, since we are a lower seed than TCU.Play a good game & let's get our first 'w' in the tournament

Have you noticed that for the most part the only chatter over there about the game is one person posting all of the links to articles about the Jacks?

I have to say... we have the BEST fan site. bar none

Yeah. Exactly. Xavier did NOT deserve that #5 seed.
