In three of the last four halves, the women have scored more points than their opponent did in the game. The only time they didn't was in the first half against NDSU where I believe they were 4 pts short of the Bison's game total and in that half they only allowed 14 pts.

Re: Peaking
I think they're getting close to playing as well as they can, but i think they can reach down & continue to show improvement, they have to reach the "next level" by tournament time.They're almost there now.If they win out, win the conference tournament , & then "peak" , that'd be fine in my book.

Re: Peaking
Today's game makes it 4 of the last 6 halves that the Jacks have scored more pts than their opponent did in the entire game. We got 54 pts in the 2nd half today, Cent had 52 for the game. During this stretch, I think this is the first of those halves that this feat was accomplished because of the offensive side of the team. Not saying that the D was bad today, but 54 pts in a half is rolling.

Re: Peaking
The thing that will help them compared to other years is that they have a conference tourney and will nothave two weeks off! They would have never lost to Creighton had not been for time off last year!
They are Peaking and Peaking and Peaking!
They even get alot of talk on ESPN message board for women's basketball

All I'm saying is I pray something stupid like that does not happen in the either tourney... against us that isIf you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

Re: Peaking
quote=Kemo;111860]I'm sure the layoff didn't help, but I'm pretty sure we lost that game because Creighton played the half of their lives in that game, shooting over 70% from the floor in the second half of that game. The sad thing was that lots of those shots were highly contested/almost blocked and they still went in... it was unbelievable. Reminded me of replays (since I was 2 at the time) of the 1985 Nat' Championship Game where Villanova shot something like 79% from the field and still barely beat Georgetown.

maybe that's why they've been up at the half by so much lately. I think , since about the time right after the loss at Oakland, this team has been very , very focused at wanting to improve thier game & it's really showing up now by the blow outs they've had the last few games.They're getting to be a well oiled machine running on all cylinders.....watch out Summit, I like the comment by Marylands coach about how S.D.S.U. is a team to be wary of come the NCAA tournament. Everyone we face will be
watching game film , trying to figure us out,it's great to be such a concern to the Maryland's of the world.

Here is the ESPN rankings for margin of victory. As of Feb. 22nd, the Jacks were 5th, and based on their big win yesterday, they should move up a few spots and possibly into 3rd in the nation.

Re: Peaking
One thing to show how explosive SDSU is on offense, check out the projected numbers over 40 minutes for our top scorers in yesterday's games.
Young = 40/15*15 = 40
Oistad = 40/18*15 = 33.3
Warkenthien = 40/27*18 = 26.7
Rotert = 40/25*15 = 24
Boever = 40/25*13 = 20.8
Muckenhirn = 40/15*6 = 16.0
Cornemann = 40/25*9 = 14.4
The efficiency of this team is pretty amazing. I don't think there are many teams who have offensive players like Young and Oistad coming off the bench like us.

Re: Peaking
They've been rising in several statistical categories, scoring offense , scoring defense, 3 pts made per game, scoring margin, to name a few
http://web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/...?sportCode=WBB
We are # 6 in 3 pt. field goals in the nation , no bcs school ahead of us, except for Middle Tenn State, which we might not have to play. There's no way to defend this unless you put your players defending tight at the perimeter , which open's up the floor for drives to the hoop , or for Jenn, Maria , Ketty & the rest under the basket.My only concern would be that some of the bigger schools have a lot of super quick gaurds who might lay off just far enough to be able to pick off a pass around the perimeter.Passes around the perimeter alway's make me nervous for some reason.If they got too many pick offs , it would disrupt our game a little, possibly. Every teams diff. ,I hope the games we get at the start are favorable match ups for us, because, eventually, all roads to the final four are through the top seed (seed's).Oops, find myself slipping into my worry/nitpicking mode again...sorry And also suffering from "thinking too far ahead" syndrome, let's win Mon. , win the Conf. tournament, secure our #5 seed, then, we can really start to kick ....fill in the blank.Last edited by jackdaniel; 03-01-2009, 02:05 PM.
