Here's another thing that was said earlier but here's the latest bracket that's out. We're a 7 seed in the bottom left (Oklahoma City). Can you imagine playing Duke in the second round of the NCAA tourney??

Attendance was 220 according to the boxscore. What else is there to do in Fort Wayne? Unreal.

Jill Young is the leading rebounder with 9. That is amazing. Very good rebounder for someone 5'-7".

words of praise by ipfw coach chris paul in argus

And SDSU hasn't had such a complete squad since it began the series with IPFW in 2004-05, according to Mastodons coach Chris Paul. Of course, a Monday night contest at conference contender Oakland (10-4, 2-1) will be a better test of that.

"They're so much deeper than they've ever been," Paul said of the Jacks. "They're bringing kids off the bench that could start for any other team in this conference. They've got shooters, they've got speed, they've got ballhandling, they've got size. I see why they're No. 21 in the country, and I expect them to continue to go up."

She's a gamer and just seems to have a nose for the ball. I love watching players like that.
              Holy nutmeg!

You can't ask more of a team than this observation from an opposing coach:

I remember hearing a post-game interview a couple seasons ago and I thought it was one of the assistant coaches. And I thought it was one of the most intelligent sports interviews I had heard in a long time...without all the cliches you hear in almost every interview at any level. And no "you know"s. Well, it turned out to be one of the players (I don't remember which one) and it was so impressive to hear a player express herself so well and so maturely.

My perception is in general that female college athletes tend to be better-spoken than their male counterparts--better syntax, better diction, fewer "ums" and "you knows" and other filler type words.

Of course, in the specific instance of SDSU we're also talking about the reigning 3-time leaders of all of college women's basketball in GPA, too . . .
