I think the biggest question coming into the game is who is going to stop possibly the best player in the big 10 Megan Fox? Muck? Ketty? Nobody?

Re: Minnesota Game Thread
Both teams are 8-1 but I think SDSU has played slightly tougher competition...may not be enough of a difference in competition levels to draw any conclusions. Here are the records for comparison:
Minnesota Record (8-1) Opponents’ Ranking (AP Poll)
L Stanford 68, MN 55 #3
W MN 70, Santa Clara 45 NR
W MN 68, NDSU 56 NR
W MN 79, American U 62 NR
W MN 87, Yale 63 NR
W MN 74, Drexel 50 NR
W MN 86, UMass 67 NR
W MN 98, St Mary’s (CA) 72 NR
W MN 80, Boston College 60 NR
SDSU Record (8-1) Opponents’ Ranking (AP Poll)
W SDSU 55, Missouri 50 NR
W SDSU 64, Wisconsin 44 (Getting votes)
W SDSU 70, Utah 58 NR
W SDSU 80, Oregon 63 NR
L Maryland 68, SDSU 56 #15
W SDSU 62, Illinois 60 NR
W SDSU 64, Montana 59 NR
W SDSU 63, Centenary 41 NR
W SDSU 76, Oral Roberts 52 NR
As noted in another thread, SDSU rec'd 27 votes for a ranking. Minnesota rec'd 14.

Re: Minnesota Game Thread
Hopefully Boever will be able to play. Has anyone heard?
The Gophers are not a team that is going to "wow" anyone with their play, other than Fox. She's got some flash to her game. McCoy at the other guard spot can't hit a shot beyond 5 feet. Ohm can hit the 3, but won't ever beat anyone off the dribble. Ellis-Milan inside is a bull and can clean up on the boards. Voigt, another post, won't out-athletic anyone. They will be physical though. The only way we lose is if we get beat on the boards.

Re: Minnesota Game Thread
Another game ala ORU or Utah, at Minny will send a super message to AP/ESPN voters. An Illinois type game will send a mixed message.
Jacks have beeen fabulous on D. The big ?? is how will the shots fall for the Jacks.
Of the two games this week, this should be the "easier" + should be a fair contingency of Jacks fans to back the Jacks in the twin cities.

Get off to a good start ladies and hold them off from the free throw line.

Bulletin Board Material. Last night on the Pam Borton show she discounted the Jacks win 2 years ago in strong terms and stated "That game was stolen from us" and the word fluke was used. Neither Pam or the Moderator gave us much respect other than we gave Maryland a good game and have beat a couple of Big Ten Teams so we can't overlook them.

Re: Minnesota Game Thread
The following is from the official Gopher athletic site...I didn't see any mention of series record or what happened the last time the two teams played.
Scouting South Dakota State
South Dakota State is off to an 8-1 record in the 2008-09 season and comes to Williams Arena with a four-game winning streak in the Jackrabbits’ first being eligible for NCAA postseason play. SDSU already has wins over two Big Ten schools, Wisconsin and Illinois, this season. The Jackrabbits only loss came to Maryland. Senior forward Jennifer Warkenthien leads the Jackrabbits in scoring at 12.2 points and rebounds at 10.0 boards per game, respectively. Warkenthien is coming off an impressive 15 points/17 rebounds double-double in 25 minutes versus Oral Roberts.
