Re: Montana game thread
Jacks fans,
I don't think we are giving our ladies enough credit. I keep reading about needing to be more consistant, play better defense, rebound, shot better etc. There is a reason we are not more consistant if you will? We are playing the best teams from the Mountain West conference, the best from the Big Sky, good teams from the big 10 and big 12, not to mention #11 Maryland. They are NOT the run of the mill NCC or NSIC teams. The teams we are playing take things away from you and make you look bad at times. They are tall and athletic teams that are consistantly in the NCAA tournament. Its often interesting to read the comments from the opposing teams website. They are always very impressed with our Lady Jackrabbits as I am. 6 wins and 1 loss with the schedule we have just finished is nothing short of remarkable. Even sober most reasonable Jacks fans would have accepted a 4 & 3 or a 5 & 2 record at this point. Now its time to show this team just how impressed we are by showing up at the games this Thursday and Saturday as we start the conference with two decent teams in Centenary and Oral Roberts.
Just keep winning ladies no matter how you do it. Just win Ladies.

Re: Montana game thread
We also have done our conference mates a huge favor, most people in the country now know that the Summit League can compete with all these other leagues. That was a good run of games, and if they would have shot relatively decent at Maryland, they might have had a sweep.

Terry's Argus write-up of the Montana game:
Another strong finish propels Jacks
SDSU rallies to top Montana for second comeback in two nights
Terry Vandrovec • November 29, 2008 \
CANCUN, Mexico - Another uneven performance, another deficit, another win against another quality opponent.
South Dakota State rallied from eight down for the fifth time this young season in beating Montana 64-59 on Friday night in the finale of the Caribbean Challenge MTE at the Moon Palace Resort.
Less than 24 hours after overcoming a 15-point deficit against Illinois, the Jackrabbits allowed 54 percent shooting in the first half and only 24 percent in the second. They led by 10 less than 10 minutes after trailing by eight and then failed to connect from the field in the final 9 minutes, 44 seconds.
Senior forward Jenn Warkenthien led the way with 21 points and a career-high 18 rebounds after being benched briefly for poor play against the Illini.
Once again, SDSU was a model of inconsistency - and yet it stands at 6-1 with two wins against reigning NCAA Division I conference champions.
"It's not really our goal coming into a game to get behind and see how we can battle back," the 6-foot Warkenthien said. "But it shows a lot of how we can get in those situations and not give up."

MontanaRabbit...just came in from hunting to catch up on the forum news. Confused about your comment about the Jacks "probably should" have beaten Maryland. Did you check out the Terps' home page? The Jacks gave up height across the board...does the name Tolliver ring a / your bell? How many All-Americans do they have? Guess you are new to women's collegiate ball...

If you don't agree read the quotes from AJ, he wasn't happy with their play down there and he believes they "SHOULD HAVE" been 3-0, not 2-1.
That being said I like how the women just find a way to win whether they play their best or not. They are just plain scrappy.
