Agreed. I prefer watching this board vs. spotty WNAX reception and other distractions. Thanks all!

        Jacks fans,

I don't think we are giving our ladies enough credit. I keep reading about needing to be more consistant, play better defense, rebound, shot better etc. There is a reason we are not more consistant if you will? We are playing the best teams from the Mountain West conference, the best from the Big Sky, good teams from the big 10 and big 12, not to mention #11 Maryland. They are NOT the run of the mill NCC or NSIC teams. The teams we are playing take things away from you and make you look bad at times. They are tall and athletic teams that are consistantly in the NCAA tournament. Its often interesting to read the comments from the opposing teams website. They are always very impressed with our Lady Jackrabbits as I am. 6 wins and 1 loss with the schedule we have just finished is nothing short of remarkable. Even sober most reasonable Jacks fans would have accepted a 4 & 3 or a 5 & 2 record at this point. Now its time to show this team just how impressed we are by showing up at the games this Thursday and Saturday as we start the conference with two decent teams in Centenary and Oral Roberts.

Just keep winning ladies no matter how you do it. Just win Ladies.

We also have done our conference mates a huge favor, most people in the country now know that the Summit League can compete with all these other leagues. That was a good run of games, and if they would have shot relatively decent at Maryland, they might have had a sweep.

The women deserve a lot of credit for the early wins against major conference foes. Some of the things AJ and fans are frustrated about have nothing to do with the level of competition such as unforced turnovers and not hitting key free throws. The players have said it themselves they need to step on a opponent when they have them down. The bar is high for this team and that is a good thing.

SDSU rallies to top Montana for second comeback in two nights
              Terry Vandrovec • November 29, 2008 \

CANCUN, Mexico - Another uneven performance, another deficit, another win against another quality opponent.

South Dakota State rallied from eight down for the fifth time this young season in beating Montana 64-59 on Friday night in the finale of the Caribbean Challenge MTE at the Moon Palace Resort.

Less than 24 hours after overcoming a 15-point deficit against Illinois, the Jackrabbits allowed 54 percent shooting in the first half and only 24 percent in the second. They led by 10 less than 10 minutes after trailing by eight and then failed to connect from the field in the final 9 minutes, 44 seconds.

Senior forward Jenn Warkenthien led the way with 21 points and a career-high 18 rebounds after being benched briefly for poor play against the Illini.

Once again, SDSU was a model of inconsistency - and yet it stands at 6-1 with two wins against reigning NCAA Division I conference champions.
"It's not really our goal coming into a game to get behind and see how we can battle back," the 6-foot Warkenthien said. "But it shows a lot of how we can get in those situations and not give up."

I believe that SDSU and Oakland are the only women's team from the Summit that can compete with those teams.

At the moment, you probably are correct. But I was referring to idea that teams in this league are capable of doing it because it is being done. Each school is going to have to step it up to compete with SDSU primarily. That is good for the league.

Very similar to the way the NCC evolved in our DII years. NDSU and UND forced SDSU to elevate its program to match the ND schools. One of the reasons membership in a conference is so critical.

MontanaRabbit...just came in from hunting to catch up on the forum news. Confused about your comment about the Jacks "probably should" have beaten Maryland. Did you check out the Terps' home page? The Jacks gave up height across the board...does the name Tolliver ring a / your bell? How many All-Americans do they have? Guess you are new to women's collegiate ball...

They played half a game against Maryland.....really struggling in the second half. They play like they are capable they beat Maryland the other day and I think many people on here will agree. In fact they played well in exactly one half of each game they played last week. Can't wait until they can put it all together.

Guess you didn't catch the game otherwise you wouldn't have posted that response...

Good post. Our ladies are doing outstanding. It is frustrating that they can play so poorly one half and completely the opposite in the next. It is early and I expect we will see more consistent play as the season rolls on. I still believe we very well could have went 3-0 in Cancun, but am happy with 2-1. I am also very impressed by the 6-1 start.

If you don't agree read the quotes from AJ, he wasn't happy with their play down there and he believes they "SHOULD HAVE" been 3-0, not 2-1.

That being said I like how the women just find a way to win whether they play their best or not. They are just plain scrappy.

I dont get this response. Yes they were giving up height across the board but they shot under 33% from the floor and just 22% from behind the arc. Maryland was the deeper team but the Jacks were in that game for 3/4 of it

This post makes no sense. First you never listened to the game and you can judge whether the Jacks were in the game? Since when does height and having an All-American determine an outcome of a game. Were the #10 Terps expected to win yes. Jacks led by as many as seven in the first half and by one at the end of the half. Those of us that were either at the game or listened to it know the Jacks had an opportunity to win that game. See comment from a Montana fan who was there on EGriz. Maybe your the one who is new or late to the game.
