It does seem like they come out of the chute a little bumpy recently and then turn on the burners come mid-season.
Hopefully they can get their intensity and drive earlier this year and be hitting on all cylinders going into conference.

Was it last year they had all the nagging foot injuries, or was that a previous season? If it was, maybe being healthy and more experienced gets more wins this season.

I know in general, people hate to look ahead but....the Maryland game just became more winnable for the Jacks than before. The #3 Terps were upset by TCU tonight, 80-68. The Horned Frogs were up by 20 at one point in the second half. TCU lost to Colorado in the quarterfinals of the WNIT last season. Oh yeah can't forget: great win tonight Jacks!

tonite was a good win for the jacks. to go on the road and beat a big 12 team even though they were predicted last in their tough conference. still was a good win for the Jacks!

Nice write up about the game at GoJacks.com

The notes at the end, copied below contained some interesting facts.

Notes: SDSU leads the all-time series with Missouri, 2-1 ... the Jackrabbits went without a three-pointer (0-for-7) in their first trip to Mizzou Arena in the 2006-07 season, then started Friday's game 0-for-8 on threes before Warkenthien hit a triple midway through the first half ... the Jackrabbits improved to 6-3 against Big 12 opponents since moving to Division I at the start of the 2004-05 season ... Friday's game was the Jackrabbits' 100th against a D-I opponent since making the transition, improving to 71-29 in that span ... SDSU won only one game last season in which it trailed at halftime -- at IPFW, winning in overtime.

So CONGRATS TO THE JACKS, 100 D-I games under our belt, and a 71% win rate!!!! And we do something to start the season, come back to win after being down at the half, that we only did once all of last season. THAT's a NICE ROAD START to the season.

To all the SD, MN, IA, NE "locals" treat yourself to at least one of the 3 GREAT games played at FROST over the next 9 days. When we transitioned to D-I, did you EVER EXPECT TO SEE a BIG 10, MWC, and PAC-10 at FROST in a SEASON? Now we get that in a week!

Ladies, you've come a long ways!!!! And you've earned it!

From what Tyler reported, Jill had to sit one game because last year she played in an exhibition game which was a violation of an NCAA rule for transfers.

I thought I had heard earlier that Westergard may be redshirting this season. Still some problems with the knees.

Jennie Sunnarborg looked terrific last night. She was four for four from the field and 3-4 from the FT line and got some nice rebounds.

We needed her because both Warkenthien and Boever reached four fouls with six minutes to play, and Sunnarborg really came to the rescue. Mizzou put in a taller reserve against her, and that didn't help them at all. Jennie is smooth, has a nice free throw motion and is just going to be a terrific assist off the bench this year.

                      Re: Missouri Game Thread

Sitting here at my computer I was just thinking how back after graduation I didn't really follow the team after I graduated except for those years when the Jacks made it to the Div 2 runs to the title games. Especially when I lived in California. When the move to D1 came my interest picked up greatly. Now that I live in Michigan and can see the teams when they come to Oakland U and with the computer I can't wait for the next game to be played. This weekend after the ladies soccer and basketball , volleyball wins and even with the mens loss and the potential football victory today I have never been prouder to be an SDSU graduate. (I also graduated from Mankato State, it will never be Minnesota State to me,and with them in D2 football playoffs and ranked in D1 hockey I just don't have the pride like I do in SDSU) Go Blue, Go State.

JF, you are absolutely right. Say what you want about just how we got to the finish line. We still got there. A sign of a good team to play as poorly as we did and still beat a big 12 team on their home court. Another measure of a good team is how deep we are. The bench was excellent. Compare that to the men who had zero offense from the bench. Not only a good win but a must win as we look ahead to the challenging schedule. Wisc, Oregon, Utah O'my! Excellent mix good players in all classes. You have to love this team. Hopefully Frost will be rock'n on Monday when Wisconsin comes to town. Congrats on the win ladies.

"I'm very disappointed in the loss," Stein said. "But I'm very encouraged about our team. South Dakota State's a really good team, and sometimes I don't know if everybody realizes the quality of team that they are."

                              Great quote from both articles.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--
