I just got home from the game.

Your traveling fans were impressive, and so was your team. You should be proud.

It's hard -- impossible, really -- to win a game at this level if your shooting switches off. But it happens.

I hope we can schedule each other in the future...it's fun to see the "little" states playing such a high level of ball.

Congradulationt to the Wyoming Cow Ladies. Most are over 18 and some maybe over 21, they are too old to be called girls but young ladies. At any rate good luck against K-State. I am proud of the Women Jackrabbit team and have accompolished wonders for us. Having the highest GPA in D1 basketball is an honor to SDSU as well. I would have loved to have won it all, but maybe next year, things will end better for SDSU. All reports seem to indicate that the Arena Audtorium is a first class facility. Something SDSU will need down the road.

Just got home from a fellow SDSU alum's home and had watched the webcast. Scanned through the thread and it has already been said. I don't think there is any way we can put a value on this teams season and playoff run. Not only was it great for the program, but for the entire school as well. The admission dept was e-mailing information about the games to prospective freshman, recruits were looking at the school and many who had nothing to do w/ SDSU before were getting hooked. Thursday night a couple guys from town went to the game that had never been to Brookings before and they were totally won over with the enthusiasm. I took a friend of mine (USD alum) to the Illinois State game last weekend and he couldn't stop talking about it and I had tickets lined up for this week and he was disappointed we can't go now. I talked to Heather Seiler this morning and she was glowing with pride about this years team.

All in all, congratulations to the womens team, we are all so proud of your accomplishments and your class. Kudos to Coach Johnston, none better. We have so much to be proud of being associated w/ State.

The Jacks were beaten 70-59 by Wyoming in Laramie during the WNIT quarterfinals before a deafening crowd of 11,253 - the largest ever for either program. . . . (read more)

LARAMIE, Wyo. - For South Dakota State University, Sunday's WNIT quarterfinal wasn't about the highs of an elevated arena, a record crowd of 11,253 or a historic season.

Instead, the 70-59 loss to Wyoming at the Arena-Auditorium was marked by uncharacteristic lows.

"It was kind of a cruel ending when you have this special season like we did," said forward Megan Vogel, the Jackrabbits lone senior and the second leading scorer in program history, "but we're just thankful we got to be a part of the tournament and enjoy the things we did."

SDSU became the first program to earn an invite to the WNIT while making the transition from Division II and was South Dakota's first NCAA Division I playoff participant. The Jackrabbits also held the longest active win streak in the country at 14 games.

But the things they didn't do Sunday did them in at the Dome of Doom, situated 7,220 feet above sea level in Laramie.

SDSU did not score a field goal for 15 minutes, 24 seconds - a drought that started late in the first half and extended into the middle of the second half - missing 10 consecutive shots and committing seven turnovers.

In the middle of that funk, the Cowgirls (25-9) scored 16 consecutive points, breaking the game open again after SDSU had gotten within 32-30 early in the second half despite starting 2-for-10 from the field and, at one point, giving up 12 points in a span of four possessions. . . . LARAMIE, Wyo. - Through the first three rounds of the WNIT, South Dakota State and Wyoming accounted for 36.8 percent of the entire tournament attendance of 68,990.

So, yes, Triple Crown Sports, the Colorado-based group that runs the event and assigns home games to the highest bidder, would have liked to have the clubs on opposite sides of the bracket, according to assistant director Renee Carlson.

But, in an effort to keep travel costs down, the WNIT tries to pair teams regionally and it just so happens that the Midwest - and particularly its small and somewhat isolated communities - supports women's basketball better than most. . . . (read more)

Still exhausted from the trip home...Got some energy and voice to make the Rally. The refs were horrible, even the Wyoming fans sitting next to us agreed. Twas a fun ride ladies. Lots of pictures of the trip. Chaotic weather, jack knifed trucks we still made it down. Hell of a ride Rabbit Fans. Thank you girls for an awesome season and Thank you Megan for a marvelous career.
