A 6'6" athlete who can post up as well as run the court would transform the Jacks from a dangerous Top-100 team into a solid, legitimate, Top-25-contending team. We've got almost all of the other pieces in place, from coaching to outside shooting, superior defense, excellent rebounding, good team speed and quickness. We live and die on offense with superior outside shooting and ball movement. If either of those things aren't happening or get taken away by an opponent, we're beatable. To be a complete team we need that athletic post player.

If there's one of those girls playing HS ball in a small town somewhere in the Upper Midwest,I'd say we'd at least have a shot at recruiting her. Once we get the first one--the one who really puts us on the map nationally, recruiting the next one gets easier. The trick is to get that first one in yellow and blue, because that's the kind of player that the power programs are after, too.

that great post player could have prolly been
      Sam Ostarello from Stanley County
too bad she had to pick Purdue instead of State

The 3-4 times that I've seen Ostarello play, she was out on the perimeter. A great high school ballplayer, but not a post player.

I prefer AJ to stick with the type of posts that have got us here--posts that can get up and down the floor.

I agree Sam Ostarello would have been a huge get for the Jacks, but she is not the big post player being described. She is a very athletic 6'2 player who has good range and from what I understand is capable of dunking the ball.

She will be a Jack. Give it time.

Unless Osterello put on a ton of weight since her sophomore season she is NOT a big butt. She was tall and lanky when I saw her as a sophomore.

Ostarello was at a WNIT game last year. She was shooting around on the floor after the game. Some kid got his basketball stuck in the rim. Ostarello took two steps and easily grabbed the ball and pulled it down. She's some kind of athlete. Very long and lean and athletic. I think she'll contribute a lot at Purdue. I'd like to think we'll get her back here, but she's good enough to do well at Purdue. And it's a great university.
