Re: Centenary Ladies to get a Frosting?

Up 57 at the under 4 timeout. Wasn't TV wondering about modifying the media timeout rules when it was a blowout?

Hopefully Alison can squeak in a deuce to get on the board...then every Jack will have scored.

No Alison score but she took 2nd to last shot.

              Final 105-47.

              13 played, 12 scored.

105 - 47. Largest lead of the game at the end of the game.

Five into double digits. 3 at 8 pts.

Centenary's last scored at 2:38. Stingy defense by Jacks.

                    Did anyone catch the attendance?

I would expect Nielsen and Anderson will get plenty of minutes next year. Alison is a good fit as Macie's backup. And Nielsen takes over a Grimsrud-like role next year. Both are good players who just didn't work their way into the rotation this year. Nielsen was injured early, and Anderson was backing up a bunch of pretty good guards.
                        Holy nutmeg!

I think you're right on JJ. Remember, Nielsen was hurt most of her freshman year, and then missed much of the first half this year. She looked pretty good last night. TV said in his blog that the notion that AJ is overlooking Alison is not true...AJ says she is just behind a bunch of good guards.

Too early to think about this, I know, but think about next year this way (in no particular player order): Point guard: Macie and Alison, with Vanessa Johnson, a salty point guard, coming in (3 deep at one spot). At the 2-3 spots, Rotert, Muck, Meier, Jill Young, and Cornemann (five deep for two spots). At the 4-5, Warkenthien, Boever, Oistad, Nielsen, and Schutloffel, and our two freshmen 6-2 recuits, Sonnarborg and Westergard (seven deep at two spots)!! Almost makes my teeth hurt...wow! (Depending on how quickly Sonnarborg and Westergard make their presence known, would this be the year to consider redshirting...with four seniors on the team??)

I just got home a couple of hours ago, and I gotta say that Hghway 210 from Breckenridge to Fergus Falls is one nasty piece of road in the winter.
I could look straight up and see high clouds and look straight ahead and see next to nothing.

I've read comments from other coaches and from fans of other teams about the physical strength of our players. I don't believe that I've seen it demonstrated any more graphically than last night. Lots of jump balls where the Lady ended up being thrown to the floor. They were also badly worn down by the depth of the Jacks.

Grimsrud had a stretch at the beginning of the game where she pretty much had her way with anyone who tried to stop her or outrebound her. Likewise, Nielson at the end of the game. I thought Kettie played as well as I've seen this year.

BROOKINGS - In its first outing since clinching the regular-season conference title outright, the South Dakota State women's basketball team offered up a reminder of how far it has come since December.

The Jackrabbits set season highs in steals, assists and field-goal percentage and put up more points than they had since Feb. 7, 2004 in a 105-47 victory against Centenary on Saturday before a crowd of 2,872 at Frost Arena.

That SDSU (22-6, 15-2) led the Ladies (4-23, 1-16) by just one point at halftime of this season's first meeting seemed unimaginable.
"We had to watch film of that game to prepare for this one and it was not pretty, and (coach Aaron Johnston) was still kind of upset about it," Jacks freshman forward Kristin Rotert said. "That really motivated us. We did not want them to think that's how South Dakota State Jackrabbits play basketball."

Depleted by injuries, SDSU won that contest by 16, but lost the next two games, falling to 6-5.
