  • Warkenthien grabs Co-Player of the Week

Warkenthien grabs Co-Player of the Week honors after leading SDSU to an 81-61 victory over rival NDSU last week. She scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and also dished out a season-high four assists while committing zero turnovers. Warkenthien shot 56 percent (9-of-16) from the field and was perfect from downtown (2-of-2) and at the line (3-of-3) en route to helping the Jackrabbits clinch at least a share of the regular-season league title.

    Congrats Jenn.

Scary Picture of Julia Whitted the other Co-Player of the Week.

I believe that Jen was our only preseason all-conference pick (2nd team? 3rd?). I hope Summit media have got this figured out now. SDSU is a great program with lots of good players. Maybe the women have gotten their attention now.
    Holy nutmeg!

Jenn was a 2nd team pick. If being dominate in the Summit League doesn't get us all conference team nominees and all newcomer nominees and the Coach of the Year this year, I don't know what will.

Debatable. NDSU had the Conference MVP in volleyball.

Boggle your mind some. Lisa Bue of NDSU was named Summit League Player of the Year. Jen was named to the 1st team. Andrea and Maria were named Honorable Mention and Kristen was named 6th Women of the Year. AJ was named Summit Coach of the Year. We are so loaded it is just difficult to choose from our roster. That's a good thing.

Unfortunately, these are generally INDIVIDUAL awards, in a TEAM sport. Jacks demonstrated that of our top 8/10, that it didn't matter on the pace of the Jacks' success who was in there.

Take the other teams' player on the Summit League first team out of their team's game, and there was a noticable fall off in production for that team.

Kristin Rotert deserved 6th player award. She absolutely bedazzled opponents, and changed games with her lites out 3's.

Congrats to Jenn/Kristin, Andrea, Maria, and especially to a coach who melds such a solid team of the components. This Rabbits team truly is greater than the sum of the parts. No other Summit League team could say that, and that teaming made the largest difference in our success!

Go Jacks! Best of success in the WNIT.
