  • Make your March 2009 and 2010 travel plans

Not to get too cocky or anything, but the first- and second-round sites for the NCAA women's basketball tournament in 2009 have been announced:

    http://www.ncaa.org/releases/champsi...3_wff_rls.html

If the NCAA goes regional, looks like our nearest sites are Iowa City in 2009 and either Ames or Minneapolis in 2010.

If AJ and the ladies can keep it rolling, we have a very good chance of making the tournament in the next couple of years.

At the very least, forward-thinking Jackrabbit fans will block out these dates on their schedules:
    March 21-24, 2009, and
    March 20-23, 2010.

    Go Rabbits!!!

Bump . . . I was dreaming a bit back in February when I originally posted this.

I might just have to make it a sticky thread . . .

The perfect Rabbit storm would be:

Iowa City, March 22 and 24 (6.5 hours from Brookings)
Win two games, and on to

Oklahoma City March 29 and 31 (10.5 hrs from Brookings)
Win two more games, then on to

St. Louis April 5 and 7 (10 hrs from Brookings)

Visualize it, make it possible in your head, go out and do it for real.

          It. Could. Happen.

If they are in Iowa City, I would love to make the trip. I love Iowa City. I think I could just extend spring break a couple days through that Tuesday.

Re: Make your March 2009 and 2010 travel plans

I feel the need to insert this caveat for those who think that we're already penciling in a Summit League championship and all the rest.

Anything can happen, especially once you get into league play. But dag nab it, I live with a Tennessee grad, so having this opportunity to pull SDSU up into the same high stratosphere as the Lady Vols is just too good for me, personally, to pass up.

I'm not taking anything for granted. SDSU needs to get through three more out-of-conference games, then head into the Summit League where, I say again, anything can happen.

I like our team. I like our chances. I'd love to see how SDSU matches up to the Lady Vols (even at the risk of the temporary domestic disturbance that may cause--Snookums likes smack better than I do, I think.)

Anyway, non-SDSU-types reading this thread should be reading "It Could Happen," not "It Will Happen." Lots of basketball between now and March to play.

              Let's be about it!

Dreaming is fine...and anything is possible, but like AJ says, let's take it one step at a time...and one of those steps may be necessary Sunday, Dec. 1, at home when Valparaiso comes to town. Assume many of you have noted that Valpo beat #23/21 Purdue 71-60 Wednesday night. Having said that...we're in Frost! See you there!

P.S. A win there would also be of some help in that week's polls!

I will sure be there! It will be my first game of the season and only one of two I am guaranteed to see. I am one that is very excited. (and it has nothing to do with having finals over and being on winter break)

Sagarin has Valpo at #56 . . . definitely no pushover, as Purdue found out.

Looking at Valpo's stats from the Purdue game there was plenty of fouling 30 by Purdue with two starters fouling out. The Purdue center fouled out with 10:26 remaining in the second. Valpo had six girls with 25 minutes or more played so depth may be a problem for them if the Jacks play their hard nosed game again. And they only lost to Notre Dame by eight.

first round game a utah ,minn, old domineon type team second round , same if you are seeded high , otherwise top 25 team 3rd round top 25 for sure , might run into a top ten,4th round top 10, unless somebody upsets one of them, the rest of the way top 5 in the country caliber....sorry talk'n about the "big dance"you'd have to elevate your gameplay every round , no sloppy play & get by with it after the first round.
