Verdegen got a huge steal at the end of the game to finish it off...great end of the game performance by our Jacks...I'm going to reiterate that our players were much less tired than theirs at the end of the game. We constantly were subbing and they were not. A lot of hanging on the shorts and jerseys by the IPFW players. I'm guessing that had something to do with their sloppy play in the end.
Just want to post a couple of thoughts (had to let my heart quiet down...our cat ran out of the living room when I exploded off the couch at Kristen's driving basket) on huge wins by Jacks. Jenn kept us in the game when everybody else was struggling bad. The thing I've always liked about Kristin is that she can hit the big shot and isn't afraid to shoot it...that's big for a freshman. Unless Scotty called it wrong, Muck got the steal at the end, knocking it away to Verdegan. And kudos to Morgan Meier, always tough defensively, who was on Lewis-Carlisle in the overtime and caused one turnover and kept her from getting any quality shots off (but the IPFW guard is a great player).
Just got home from work and read thru the thread instead of jumping to the end. What a nail-biter. Nice recovery at the end.
Go Jacks!
An ardent supporter of the hometown team should go to a game prepared to take offense, no matter what happens.Robert Benchley US actor, author, & humorist (1889 - 1945)
Wow. Very impressive. This team, like last year's team, gives fans the feeling that it can and probably will win any close game it's in. This is a good team, and it's getting better.
During these last two road games I'm starting to see Kristin Rotert taking on more of a scoring threat late in games. In OT tonight she hit a huge 3 when we were down by 1 at the time. Shortly thereafter she drove to the basket and drew a foul and made both free throws. That is good to see, because after Vogel graduated I thought Connerman would step more into that type of role. Ketty has had some injury issues this year and really has not been herself. Now that we are late into the year, I'm thinking that Rotert has started to feel more comfortable in late game situations.
I think AJ is also starting to get the players into a routine with his substiutions at the end of the games At the end of the game tonight AJ looked like he shortened his rotation of players. The only players that played at the end or in OT was Verdagan, Muckenhern, Meier, Warkenthein, Rotert, Boever and Connerman. I think this is a good rotation of players to have as the year winds down. I look forward to watching the game on Saturday night.

AJ has said it's been tough, with all the talent and injuries, for people to settle into roles this year. Looks like they're settling in, and just in time.
