I know that this isn't just conference stats but how about IUPUI. They have 2 posts that are putting up solid numbers.
Whitted- 12.9(points) and 7.5(rebounds)
Cann- 12.3(points) and 9.5(rebounds)
They don't shoot like Jen & Maria but they put up solid numbers. I just thought that those 2 players were solid.

Very good point. One could argue on numbers alone, these two are better. My unbiased opinion (if that is possible on this board), I'll take Jenn and Maria anyday!

Looks good on the surface, but Whitted and Cann combined average 61.5 minutes/game, whereas Maria and Jen combine for 47.5 minutes/game. Still the best tandem in the league.

I would just add that Whitted is so unathletic that she isn't much of a factor at all on defense, if she can get down the floor in time to participate at all (when we got out and ran, she often made it just past half court as we scored in transition). On our offensive sets, our women just dribbled around her. Cann is good at both ends of the floor.

I'd much prefer to have two quick, athletic players in the paint to one giant, slow player like Whitted.

I was impressed with Maria last year but she has REALLY impressed me this year. I already knew Jen was a stud. They play very well together. The last double header I went to (Western Ill) was an example of how dominate Maria was. They couldn't stop her. Very good passes to her on the low post, and Jen made some of those. I would also compare their stats on turnovers and assists. I think both handle the ball well and are good passers.

As for player of the year nominations, I agee with the post regarding the balance on the team. I really thought Andrea would be scoring more this year than she is, but she doesn't need to. You look at the post players State has and the other guards/forwards and State is scary.
