Now that she is in the Jackrabbit family (nearly for sure) some more info. Her mom Pam Heiser (Stevenson) played softball at SDSU. Her aunt Karla Stevenson is a legendary former women's basketball player. Her uncle Matt Stevenson played baseball at SDSU and was the NCC pitcher of the year. Her uncle Mark Stevenson J.D. played football at SDSU. Her grandma Gloria Stevenson is in the softball hall of fame. I think her aunt, who is now a doctor, Linda played softball at the U of Minnesota (not sure someone else help me out). I believe her grandpa Duane played college football (I don't remember where...).

So, what I am trying to say is she comes from on heck of an athletic Jackrabbit family, at least on her mom's side. (cheap shot at Ron Heiser, her dad, he's pretty dang athletic himself) Glad to hear she will be a Jackrabbit.

From the sports brief section in today's Argus. They actually have it updated today so I can provide a link.

Sounds like she had her mind made up all along.

              Heiser commits to SDSU
A third ESD junior standout has verbally committed to play women’s basketball at South Dakota State. Watertown guard Tara Heiser followed suit with South Dakota Lightning teammates Steph Paluch and Katie Lingle of Pierre in accepting a scholarship to play for the Jackrabbits beginning in 2009-10.

The 5-9 Heiser averaged 12.5 points and 6 rebounds per game as a sophomore last season, helping the Arrows upend Pierre for the Class AA state title and earning second-team all-state honors.

In addition to her ties with Paluch and Lingle, Heiser has deep roots in Brookings as her mom, two aunts and two uncles played sports at SDSU.

“I got letters from other schools, but I just didn’t really consider any of them,” Heiser said. “I started going to summer camps there when I was little.”
