    Re: Missouri

Didn't get to listen to the game...had to have our annual put up the Christmas lights fight. Haven't looked back through the thread yet. Did any of the injured players come back and play today?

Warkenthien, Oistad and Nielsen, along with redshirt Young, were sitting on the bench in street clothes and cheering their team mates on. Everyone else played, and played hard. SDSU's good shooting and hustle beat Mizzou's good shooting and size. Impressive win.

I guess something changed since Saturday morning. Hopefully all three ladies will be back soon. I can't begin to fathom how good this team will be then.

I hope we can get Jenn and Laura back for GW. We are going to need to be firing on all cyclinders when we see them Friday. But I really like the way the underclassmen have stepped up. We've got a really tough 10 days coming up with GW, Southern Illinois and Utah. Utah took #5 ranked Standford into 2OT. It will be a good test to see where we stand. I like our chances.

              Re: Missouri

We attended all 3 games this weekend. Great win for the women today. They look great. We are going to bet beat inside by more athletic frontcourts but our backcourt can compete with anyone and our shooting is going to be tough to match. My only concern, maybe we have too many options. I'm a firm believer that you can hurt the flow of a game with too many substitutions. I think Muck, Allison, Morgan, and Jen S. may see less and less time when Jen W, Heather, and Stacie comeback. Great problem to have. When Macie pumped her fist after making that first 3 I saw Megan all over again. Now, Macie is no Megan but I think she is going to be great. Rotert is as poised as a freshman could ever be, would like to see her take some people of the dribble. Kettie is special especially when she has confidence. I could go on and on. Good luck in Washington, I hope I'll be listening.

I agree with JackMD, especially on Macie. She'll be her own person but when you see the intensity, the energy, you automatically think about Megan Vogel.

                That's a great Jackrabbit women's basketball team.

There is no Heather on our team. Laura Nielson is the other player out.

                    Re: Missouri

Watched the GWU-Rutgers game tonight on ESPN-U (will be going out to DC to see them in person, but wanted to check out the GW team). Rutgers handled them with ease (they only got 19 points in the first half and only had 4 points in the first eight minutes of the second half.

But Rutgers is very definitely good, so you have to take that into consideration. GW has a 6-4 (I'd say about 220) junior center and a 6-3 twin sister, plus Kimberly Beck is back as a senior, and the announcers showed a rating that put her in the top five point guards in the country in pre-season polling.

But I'll tell you this...if we can keep our aggressive, FAST, shove it down their throats offense, and aggressive defense, and use our depth, it will be interesting to see how their big players do. And if we do that without too many turnovers (which may be hard), and shoot decently...I think we will give them a good run. I'm not sure they are really #14, but they are probably in the top 30 or so...and so, GO JACKS!

P.S. Started this post to point out that I believe we NOW have a true point guard, which we haven't had since Heather Sieler (no offense to our other guards who have been running the point, but they are mostly 2's). It is going to be something to watch for four years!

                      Re: Missouri

I've been told that Jenn for sure has a checkup appointment on Tuesday 11/20/07. There is optimism that she may be released to play? If memory serves me correctly Luara has an appt as well.

Unfortuately Stacie will be out for sometime.

The women have been playing exceptionally well without key players. Just how good well these women be when everyone returns?

BROOKINGS - The South Dakota State University women's basketball team is not above being inspired by revenge. In fact, the club has become downright prolific in the art of payback.

If the Jackrabbits lacked intensity in last year's loss at Missouri, it might have been one of the few times all season that they weren't emotionally up for a major conference challenge. They steadfastly turned that around in Sunday's rematch, wearing out the taller, more athletic Tigers in a 78-63 victory before a crowd of 1,521 at Frost Arena.

SDSU is 9-1 in its past 10 games against teams that won the previous series meeting, and the Jacks have done it against the likes of Missouri, Southern California and Colorado.

"Oh, yeah, we talk about it before we go out," senior guard Andrea Verdegan said of the second chances. "They got us one time, it's our turn to get them. And playing in Frost, we have to defend our own territory."
