Kallie is showing signs of life. she had a nice move in the post too, but missed the layup. even at her best she has always seemed to lack touch
KT added to her nation leading shot into the bottom of the backboard.

Byom should be the league defensive player of the year. Larkins can’t do much when she’s down low to stop her.

Brooklyn with 0 FG attempts in the third quarter. I don’t care who we are playing and how they’re guarding her, she needs way more touches than that.

it's frustrating watching Larkins walk the ball up the court. They set a high screen and Larkins drives for a layup on every possession. She plays 40 minutes a game, put some pressure on her to make her work for it.

            I think #41 is Klingon.

23 points on 22 shots for Larkins. People gush about her but that is not great.

Rivalry wins are never easy so we should be happy. Feels like a bit of a letdown though that we let them get out to such a good start and keep it somewhat close. The second quarter run was impressive, we need 40 min of that. If we see them again, I don’t anticipate AJ letting the same type of game happen. Larkins is very good but we have people that can slow her down at times unlike other conference teams.

Wilke is getting better for them. Surprised they didn’t try to use her more. Larkins is one of a kind but does just throw it up at times. Meanwhile, Mathiowetz was 7/10 for us and Timmer was 5/9. Brooklyn was quiet but is still the most efficient player in the league.

Averaging 38 minutes a game (40 today) has to gradually be taking a toll on her body as the season wears on. It looks like they are going to finish in a spot which will make them play 3 games in 3 days in Sioux Falls if they advance. Which will really catch up with them with their lack of depth.

We might get to face them on Saturday in Sioux Falls. If that’s the case, I doubt Grace gets the benefit of a leisurely stroll up the court each possession. As mentioned above, that was frustrating to watch. I think that potential tournament game will be a lot more fun.

60 straight in the Summit. How many against USD?

If we play them again and USD comes out with the same defense, you would think that the coaching staff will have a better plan of attack. They don't seem to have any post depth if the starter would get in foul trouble.

The USD offense is easy as long as Larkins has the ball. All the players line up on perimeter while Larkins cuts on the screen and drives for the basket. If the lane plugs, she tosses to open player. The team launches 28 behind the arc and gets 4 offensive rebounds. Larkins shoots 8 of the 10 free throws. Any tweaks on defense by the Jackrabbits during any rematch should clean up some of the open 3's. The dismal shooting from the first quarter was covered as the Jackrabbits finished at 48% for the game. There is a week to prepare for the last road game at KC.

The Jacks started the game cold and sloppy, and the Coyotes started hot and lucky. Even so, I never felt like the Jacks would lose, even when they trailed by 14 points (or more). Despite their talent, experience and depth, it is concerning that the Jacks have a developed a pattern of starting games slow, falling behind, giving the opponent confidence, and then having to scramble to catch up and win. But credit the Jacks for a playing a so-so game overall, making Larkins look ordinary, and winning by 10 points.

I too was frustrated watching her walk the ball up the court. AJ talked pregame about defending Grace. He said it's not the same all-game long. It changes possession to possession. It sounded like USD's offensive alignment would dictate where our help defense would come from, etc. I think he likes his defense set and in position once they cross half court so that may be part of the reason we didn't pressure the ball more. But I agree, on occasion, someone should be on her full court to make her work a little bit.

Between Paige, Timmer, Mathiewitz and Vasecka I'd like to think a full court press on Larkins would certainly make her miserable and tired.
