Brooklyn shot 10 FTs, beyond that, Mesa went to the line twice at the end of the game when they fouled her on purpose. beyond that our entire team shot... do you wanna guess? TWO FTs

considering that there was a stretch in the second half when they knocked our players to the ground on 3 out of 4 or 5 possessions, I thought the refs were doing a heck of a job of demonstrating the Let em play philosophy

they had 3 fouls at the end of the game that were purposeful and meant to put us on the line. take those away and the fouls were almost exactly the same. that is a joke when one team DEFINITELY preaches be physical and dont worry about fouling (NDSU- Jordy) and the other team DEFINITELY preaches play physical defense but DO NOT FOUL. these differences in philosophy do exist. i have heard them taught in coaching clinics. AJ like Nagy HATES fouling and putting the opponent on the FT line. he teaches play excellent physical defense but DONT foul.

Jordy is of the other side of the physical defense coin. meaning dont worry about fouling. if all of you foul someone almost every time down the floor, the ref will never call everything, and on the rare occasion they do call a lot, we will adjust

it is idiotic when 2 teams playing by these two opposite beliefs play each other and the fouls are even

Kallie just is a NON threat on offense against even average defense. she is definitely not all the way back (2 years ago was DPOY and really deserved to be all conference) to pre injury form, BUT it is amazing how much different she looks on the defensive end as opposed to offense

i truly appreciate that she very much wanted to come back after the injury and continue to be part of this team!! it is unfortunate that injuries have robbed her of so much time. she is simply NOT much of a factor on offense- outside of screens and getting some O Boards. but she does remain a VERY useful role player who plays excellent defense. tonight she had 2 blocked shots and a steal

Mesa on the other hand? she did not score, but you cannot really say she had a bad shooting night. she only took 4 shots and DID manage to score 5 points on ONLY 4 FG attempts.

and for a "not stellar night," she did manage to lead all players with 10 boards. she also had 4 assists to lead the Jacks. she also had a block and a steal. that is a pretty great not stellar night. Mesa is a player who will not approach any team records, but she is very easily one of my all time favorites. she has been a blast to watch and i will really miss her after this year

i think you could be correct. and yet, I am so happy she wanted to come back for this year and continue to be part of this program. she is probably the most well spoken and thoughtful interview in the whole athletic program and just an awesome kid. i am still hoping that come tourney time she will be more back to where she was 2 year ago. either way she is an awesome teammate and I am sure she is an incredible mentor to the young players on the team this year

            1. I trust AJ
            2. I dont see what happens every day in practice

that said, you could see in a tougher game, the rotation gets shorter. i have never been one who sees a big need for a LONG bench. is it nice? it can be!! is it a necessity? it really is not, especially as the season gets closer to the end

tonight we played 8 and it was really more like 7. my thought is that, I feel like i would be very tempted to be trying to have Maddie V getting more minutes. again, I trust AJ and i really believe he will have the right people ready to go come NCAA time. right now Fox appears strictly a backup PG to give Paige a few minutes rest. on a good night she can knock down some 3s. maddie V can do that too and has more size and can play multiple positions and guard multiple positions. surprised that Hopp has been very clearly behind Fox. she is a far more physical player and showed some ability to score last year. her physical play would be good in a game like tonight and that is what we will get in tourney play too

anyway, not complaints, just thoughts. hopefully Hopp has an attitude like Mesa. she should have a good opportunity next year with Mesa, Kallie, and Maddie V gone along with Paige

will they try to beef KV up a bit and make her the starting 4 ala a skinny Myah 2.0? or will she be in a battle with Fox and Abdouch to be the starting PG?

As much as I’d like to see us win every game by 40, it’s good to see NDSU closing the gap. We need to be challenged to continue to grow and do well in the postseason. With that said, we aren’t going to climb in NET rankings if games stay close like this.

The interesting part of the game was the 0-4 from the arc through the first 3 quarters for the Jackrabbits. It did seem that the Jackrabbits were intent on driving to the lane. I am not certain if the bison defense forced that part of the game or it was predetermined game plan. The game would have been decided earlier if the Jackrabbits made a few of those missed layups from more than a few players. Jory Collins is still looking for a win over the Jackrabbits! The blond referee, Michelle Kramer, had the mission to make certain most of her calls were to benefit the bison in a physical game. It would be great news if this is the last I see of this ref.
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

The stat line won't show it, but I thought Mathiowitz played very well defensively last night.

The Bison shot 9 of 20 from the 3 point line. Way higher than their average and we were 3 of 9. That was exactly the line the bison media wanted in order for them to have a chance to beat us and they still failed! Love it! They kind of adopted the Texas method of heavy pressure at the 3 point line and hoped their bigs were good enough to hold up. Points in the paint were something like 40 to 15 in our favor so they failed there too. This team has so many ways and is multitalented enough to beat the best of what our opponents throw at them. Going to be a huge battle in Fargo in two weeks.

A small part of me was hoping Brooklyn was going to profess her hate for the Bison in the post game interview. Just kidding.

Pretty funny. I think it would have been best coming from Paige though as team captain.

I have to say the refs did their usual of whistling breathing fouls, but they threw in a wrinkle with the "let them play" at some times. So at least in this game their bad calls were more even from one extreme to the other. I agree with that.

Last night's game was the 55th straight Summit League win for the women.

Before you go on, re-read that true statement. 55 League wins in a row.
