Part of the reason I got back on twitter was my interest in the information being spread on the women's team. One brave fan questioned Talia Goodman (twitter) (not a voter) who covers ncaaw bball for On3 as to why the Jacks weren't included in her article on mid majors that exceeded expectations
Fan: South Dakota State ? Only losses are to Texas, Georgia Tech and Duke, and they thumped Northern Iowa.
Goodman: Yeah I expected them to earn some upsets, though. Pretty high expectations from me at least.
I was going to post about this yesterday hoping her response would start some sort of discussion about the national media's expectation of the team.
Then today she released her/the On3 WBB Top 25 (article link) with the Jacks listed at 23, and I realized that Jacks fan changed her mind because she didn't have SDSU in her last poll.
From my perspective, some harmless midwestern interactions like this can continue to change minds. There are even local voters in Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota so it wouldn't take much if a bunch of people retweeted her tweet containing her top 25 for the week. If we sway one voter or coach, that's momentum for the next poll. It's possible she's already doing most of the work assuming the voters are already following her. Zimmer retweet would be ideal since at least the local voters (coaches, media members) could be following him.
Please don't bombard Goodman. As I learned from her tweet with this image captioned "Is there a Kim Mulkey lookalike contest today?" she's worth the follow
