Montana(4-4) is 3-1 at home. They are projected to finish 3rd in the Big Sky. They lost the game in Fargo Wednesday after falling behind 20 points in the first half. The Griz have some length to match SDSU size. There are 9 players who play 15 or more minutes/game. The Griz shoot 45% FG/31.5% 3pt. HC Holsinger enters the 4th season at Missoula with 56-37 record. He had been an assistant in Pac12 for 13 years prior to Montana. I liked AJ's answer in the postgame question about how he keeps all the talented players on the roster happy. He told Lisa Bahe that it was not his job to keep the women happy, it was his job to win games. Go Jacks!!

Turnovers have been probably our biggest weakness this year and are hurting us this half.

nice job by the girls keeping their heads after UM had the 10 pt spurt to tie things up. they really did not rattle at all and handled the last 4 minutes in a very business like manner

Not sure if this was mentioned earlier either on espn call or on brad petersen's (it wasn't mentioned in his 2nd half call), but Montana only got back to campus yesterday (weather issues preventing them from taking off from Denver after game against NDSU on Tues). The coach tried to move back the game, but it didn't work out. They didn't get to prepare. Full quote below from espn postgame.
"We played at North Dakota State and we didn't get home until yesterday. We we were on the road for fort..[cut himself off]. We spent the night in Denver because we couldn't get home. We flew here turned around and went back and then tried again the next morning and it didn't happen. What we experienced over the last few days - we tried to move the game because we didn't even get to practice before this game. I don't want to take anything away from South Dakota State because they're really good and they made the shots down the stretch, but I'm so proud of our kids for how they battled. We didn't get to prepare for this team. For us it was to prove to ourselves that we could be the kind of team that can play with or beat a team like this. They made good plays down the stretch and we didn't.."
Rest of interview he praised SDSU, the Jacks' schedule and said he aspires his program to be like SDSU. "They're the model for what our team can be". He said the game plan was to dig (they call it "digging" he noted) against Brooklyn. Said they didn't get to execute it well - probably some because they didn't get to practice. He said they had to pick the poison with Brooklyn or the outside shooting, and noted the two timely 3's down the stretch. Said the game plan was to get them under 70. Later said "Our trainer was like 'I don't know if it's safe for our kids to play' - that's how brutal our travel was." And remarked how proud he was of his team for battling back, etc. Coach also said he didn't like how this challenge is right before finals week.Last edited by peavy; 12-07-2024, 06:16 PM.

Talk about creative refereeing, the ball got loose under the basket, Mesa and a Grizz both together latched onto the ball and ended on the floor, both doing nothing but waiting for the ref to blow the whistle for a jump ball, instead he waited a little and called a 3 sec lane violation on Mesa because her leg was in the box. What?
