not gonna say i looked REAL hard, but i did look for support. that was absolutely UNWATCHABLE. i think we literally saw less than half of the game, at least for anyone who had video like mine!!

unfortunately from the glitched up bits I could see, the Jacks played one of the worst games that I can remember from our girls. from what I saw, I disagree with assessments that GT is the better team. I think the refs were bad, but most of all, we NEVER made any real attempt to stop them for going after EVERY offensive rebound. at one point they had 53 points and 22, yes TWENTY TWO, of them were on second chances!! freaking grotesque!!!

honestly, if i was in AJ shoes, I would be canceling all of the fun activities for the next two days and looking for a gym that we could use to work on endless boxing out drills

beyond the rebounding, we simply did not play well. i am not gonna be critical of individuals, so I will leave it at that. generally i would never doubt these girls effort, but they got absolutely murdered on the boards and there is simply no excuse for that. NONE

I do feel bad for Kallie. two years ago she probably deserved to be 1st team all conference, but she played less minutes than she deserved because Paiton was a senior. this year it is wildly clear that Mesa is the better all around player and needs to be on the floor more. the team simply plays better when Mesa is on the floor. i would guess they might say that Kallie is totally healthy, but she is VERY clearly lacking athleticism and explosiveness compared to what she was before the most recent injury. BUMMER!!!

clearly some of the problem is that AJ has yet to find a good rhythm with lineups and substitutions, but how many players are playing as well as they did last year so far? I think Mesa is the only one so far. i have absolutely zero doubt that these girls will terrorize the summit teams, but it would be nice to play closer to their talent level in some of these OOC games. i believe this loss is going to look worse and worse as the year goes along. I dont think GT is anywhere close to as good as we just made them look

hoping for a very motivated response vs Oregon!!

i really really hope that is correct!!! I did not see it that way. I thought thay looked very beatable, but we allowed them so many extra opportunities that they just kept gaining confidence. again, the video was terrible, but from what I was able to see, I am not sure they made a single 3 in the first half on a first look. often they did not even look good shooting the ball on the first shot, but they got MANY absolutely wide open looks on second chance shots- both inside and outside

The Ga Tech offensive rebounds was a big part of the loss for the Jackrabbits. #5 5'9" Morgan had 5 offensive boards herself. She was on mission that was not stopped by the defense of SDSU. She was also someone who had 9 foul shots often created by jumping into the defense and flailing her arms. The refs seemed to be OK with physical play by Georgia Tech, AJ seemed to be miffed by the calls in the game. The Jackrabbits missed too many 3's and too many bunnies and they allowed too many offensive rebounds. It will get better. We can hope it gets better by Tuesday.

Video issues seem to be fixed. Georgia Tech up on Oregon 43-35 with 1:44 in the 3rd. According to the Oregon guy, both teams shot poorly in the first half. Georgia Tech started with a 16-7 lead and had like 12 offensive rebounds

Edit: Georgia Tech on a 17-4 run in the 4th and up 63-47. 6 minutes in the quarter and Oregon has only one field goal attempt with at least 3 or 4 turnovers. Georgia Tech started 1-14 from 3 and has been 3-6 since.

Didn’t watch today but Oregon got beat by Ga Tech by about the same margin. Good chance for a ranked victory tomorrow but won’t be easy. Georgia Tech was very impressive. They’ll probably be ranked next week.

Duke also beat K State today. Our losses haven’t been to bad teams at all.

I would expect Oregon to come out of the gate strong considering how poorly the 4th went for them. Here's some of what the coach had to say in the Oregon postgame show.

"I don't think we played with anywhere near the kind of energy needed to win a game like this. It was almost like we were still out in the sand. It started and it ended with the offensive rebounds - to give up 23 offensive rebounds. You can't get out and run and do the things you want to do if they continue to get shot after shot after shot. They were more physical than we were. I just thought there's not one area .. I'm looking down here [at the stats sheet] that we played well. Points off turnovers 18-10, points in the paint they had 38 to 32. Second chance points 25. They're a good team, but we just didn't play well today in all phases. We didn't shoot it. Defensively we got bullied - that was the main thing."

Regarding what happened in the 4th, he said "It's been our M.O. all year long. I don't know what it is. I thought we were the kind of team that could wear teams down and play well in the 4th quarter, but that's not been the case. We've been outscored the entire year. Part of it is, I wouldn't say we quit, but we got to a point where nothing was really working. We played some young set. I was actually impressed with the team at the end. I thought we did some good thing with those young kids.."

He went on to praise Georgia Tech and said ".. when you get beat by 22 on the boards, that's the game in a nutshell." Then he noted that they drew the short straw and have to play in 24 hours with the Jacks having 2 days off. "You know, rinky-dink tournament. It's just weird the way it worked out. It's just weird. We just have to play better and I anticipate that we will. We certainly don't want to come this far and lose a couple games..."

The audio went out as he answering the question about what he'd say to wipe the slate clean and have a better showing tomorrow, saying"I probably will challenge them a little bit because it was our older kids that kinda just didn't bring the fight. It was disappointing, quite frankly.."

Having looked at the box score prior to listening to the interview, I did find it weird that they only had 32 points out of their starters with 27 from the bench. The leading starters had 10 and 9 points, and it seemed like the bench took a lot more shots than the previous game, so it makes sense about the underclassmen playing minutes. I would guess the starters must have been benched with 5 minutes or so left when they were down 14+.

The ACC is one heck of a Conference at the top tier , no wonder we are kind of ill prepared for them in the NCAA tournament coming out of the Summit. But the Summit seems to be getting somewhat better , all be it happening in baby steps. We really need these tough out of conference experiences to see for ourselves how tough these teams really are. We are getting an Invaluable experience.

Yeah, if you don't fight to get the defensive rebounds harder than they do for the O boards , it can get to be a very long day, it's like fighting an uphill battle. Possessions are so important in these games with this level of competition

Oregon was chucking up long shots the first half before running any sets. GT was in hustle mode the entire game. The 50/50 balls and rebounds belonged to GT. GT was able to put up 14 more shots than Oregon. Oregon took too long to settle in the game after their run game early failed due to missed shots.
