I have not seen any games played. The Duke WBB has high regards for defense. They held 2023-24 opponents under their season average in 33 of 34 games. They led the ACC in many defense categories. 5th year HC Kara Lawson was the first woman on the coaching staff for the Celtics. She also played basketball under Pat Summitt at Tennessee. The roster shows plenty of players 6'-6'4" to balance the guard lineup. They are averaging 84 points with the only loss to #18 Maryland. The 2 wins are over Radford & Liberty. They averaged 68 points last year. Opponents averaged just under 58 points.
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

When a lane opens up to the bucket, so far help side defense can't get there fast enough to stop her, quickness is her greatest attribute , and she shoots the three really well and is a good defender too! She and the other under classmen will only get better !

Some things said in 1st quarter by broadcasters:
10 deep, young team. In Maryland game, they couldn't finish layups and ran out of gas in 4th quarter b/c Maryland plays like they do (something about transition offenses). The woman on the broadcast suggested maybe the crowd impacted the game and mentioned the Duke coach isn't afraid to put her team in a tough environment and noted the upcoming SDSU game.

For whatever reason, an infographic listed Belmont as a notable upcoming opponent rather than South Dakota State.

Freshman Toby Fournier is a 6'2" forward who can dunk and was a top 10 recruit (#10 per espn). She came off the bench in the 1st and had 6pts and 2 steals by the end of the quarter. Duke's #17 recruit Arianna Roberson is out for the year with an injury suffered during an August U18 FIBA game. #1 recruit Sarah Strong had Duke in her final 3 before picking UConn.
