I'm more annoyed by this whole seed thing more than I should be. The NCAA comes up with a system that rewards the P4 conferences and screws over the rest of college basketball. What a bunch of bull****.

Anyone who thinks there are 39 teams better than SDSU in college basketball is smoking some really good ****.

It seems that they're doing steps to eventually have a Power conference national tournament, and another one for everyone else.

They have sooo many more chances at getting those critical Q1 wins , where just about every game you play in Conference at the top tier is a chance to getting those Q1 wins, and the experience you would get playing those types of teams. Where are those chances once the OOC is over and the rest of your season you have NO chances to get a Q1 win in the mid-major conferences?

Part of the problem is the credit they get for all those Quad 1 losses.

Actually, our first rd game matched with a 7 seed is on paper not too far removed from being a 9 seed playing a 8 seed, only 1 seed line difference. Any team advancing past the first rd more likely than not has to face a top 16 ranked team , avoiding the # 1 or #2 seeds works out best, but the four #1 seeds and four #2 seeds are a beast , very hard to beat. The tournament is set up to be very hard to get to a sweet 16 game even. Maybe some day we'll be matched with a 4th seed team or upset team in the 2nd rd game. It will be a good challenge to play OSU and hopefully UConn, and if we play our best, anything's possible. Have a fantastic March Jackrabbits, wishing the Jacks the best, go get 'em !!

If you can beat ORU/ UConn, not very many TEAMS can stop you, if your playing at that level is there? Not saying it's going to happen, but if it did.

Sure hope it does. Have to think knocking off UConn would rank up there with the Natty.

Imagine being OSU right now. They get a 7 seed and have to play the #23 team in the country, someone who is viewed as being at their same level (who might have a little chip about the underseed), and they have to travel even further than we do to the arena.

Jacks have to travel slightly farther; granted it's only about 100 miles, but Stillwater is technically closer to Storrs.

We got a 6 because they used the RPI rankings then instead of the NET. When I last checked a few days ago, we were # 19 in the RPI vs in the 40's with the NET. The NET is designed to reward average teams in Power 4 conferences.

no it is not the same. being the 7 means that you get an opponent just barely inside the top 40 in the country. being the 10 seed means you get an opponent just outside of the top 25, maybe even a team ranked in the final poll- AND in our case, we are getting a team ranked SEVENTEEN in the last poll

it is a joke that we are ranked 23 in one poll and 24 in the other and we get a team ranked above us

that is the difference. as a 7 seed it is very close to impossible to imagine getting a team ranked above you as a first round opponent

-Ig this team is a 10, how the hell did we ever get a 6 seed?

-What would we have been if we had closed out that Duke game and only had 2 losses?

-Is there any realistic way to ever get a 4 and those two home court games? I thought a 1 or 2 loss season might get it done, which is clearly not the case.

See all the discussion with peavy earlier in the thread. We got a 6 when they used RPI; RPI probably gives us a 6 again this year. The year we were the 6 we had 6(!) losses going into the tournament.

A 4 seed and hosting for us will require 0 or 1 loss (Q2 at worst) with probably two Q1 wins. It could happen, but that would be the best regular season the Jacks would have ever had and we still would only be considered for a 4 seed. That is to say, if we had that kind of season we still might end up on the 5 line.

The good thing is that AJ has shown he can get his teams to bring it against top tournament teams either at their house (#4 Stanford, #3 Syracuse) or in friendly territory (#2 Baylor in Texas). And we have top players on this team who have the experience at 1 seed Va Tech a couple years ago.

But first, we have to beat OSU.

Was hoping for a 6. This feels backwards as we should be the 7 and OSU the 10. I’m okay that we aren’t an 8 or 9. All the top seeds are tough but I’d avoid a 1 for a 2 seed any day.
