  • Fun Practice Player Article

This was in my hometown paper The Britton Journal this week. There was a lot of good stuff here and things I always kind of wondered about.

Actually it is the Marshall County Journal now. Doug Card, an SDSU graduate, was the writer here.

Going to bump this real quick before returning to the award post. I think learning about these players is great because they're basically unsung heroes and there isn't much publicized on them.

This was the initial article Here's an article the NYT did last year that includes CC & Iowa, USC, SC, Stanford, and VT.
This a look at UConn and mentions the individual in charge of the program (grad assistant).

Whole thing is interesting, but this stands out
this is the first year that schools can travel with practice players on away games. UConn doesn't do it b/c academic schedule conflicts and they can sub GA/s Team Managers. I'd have to look at the stats on away games as to whether the team has been underperforming on the road vs at home. Does the team still have rougher away games if they practice against practice players? Seems like an easy way for the team to get an edge if they aren't doing it already. VT travels with 2 practice players.

CC gave her practice players Nike shoes and Bose headphones. The practice players themselves are very invested. I'd view a team's success as something I contributed to.
