  • GDT: Mississippi St Bulldogs vs SDSU Jackrabbits 6pm @ Frost Arena/Midco

The Bulldogs arrive with their new head coach Sam Purcell. He has spent the past 9 seasons at Louisville leaving as the associate head coach. He also spent 6 seasons at Georgia Tech. Purcell has a couple of Louisville Cardinals added to the total of 9 transfers on the roster. 6'5" Hayes and guard Carter are preseason SEC all-conference picks for the Bulldogs who are picked at 8th in the middle of the SEC. There are 3 more 6'4"/6'5" players on the bench with former Louisville Parker gaining the most post minutes off bench in the first 2 games where the Bulldogs rolled by 57 & 37 point margins. A year ago was the first meeting when the Bulldogs defeated SDSU 76-71. Tonight the series could even out in Brookings. The freshmen are getting up to speed quickly and tonight could be bigger minutes Gylten as she recovers from an injury. It should be a great evening to venture to Frost to bring some support for WBB! Go Jacks!!

It sure would be nice to see them shoot it better than .263 from deep. Get a little mojo going before the road trip.

I may be more concerned with this stat if there were many players struggling. Currently Burckhard is 0-4 and Mathiowetz is 0-5 and Nelson is 1-5 of the team 10-38. Paiton is being reprogrammed much of the time on offense which should trend better as we go. Madison would not be the first freshman to take some time to get her numbers straightened out. Tori is still scoring 11/game and her 3.5 boards/game and 2 assists/game make me think all is well there. of course, I would like to see improvement and today's game we may see other which includes 3 pt shooting as a result of good ball movement. Tonight I would like to see rebounding continue strong against some taller players. That will also be important with the Bahama games.

Glad we are playing a team with this speed and length before we get to the Bahamas. Far different than the first two games and what we see throughout the conference season.

Girls are struggling to find a rhythm on the offensive. Need to take advantage from the FT line as we’ve missed 4 in the 1st quarter. But lead at the end of 1…..14-12

The 3’s will come. We’re starting to get better looks from behind the arc.

Great defense and some flashes on offense. This has been a fun game so far. It’s good to see the 3 freshmen out there battling against P5 competition.

in case anyone was wondering, not the first time 3 siblings have been on the same team at the D1 level. Vermont (men) had 3 siblings on the same team in '18-'19 (has occurred 4 times on the men's side). During '18-'19 there were two sets of three sisters playing on the same team, one on SFA Ladyjacks.

Is that Ricky Rubio out there?

Even if she’s not 100%, Gylten is going to be the best guard on the court most games. Fun game to watch.

Welcome to Brookings Dru! I like the Rubio comparison!
