Plus...at the Battle for Atlantis in the Bahamas, we get game #3 vs UCLA , get to chk out Kiki Rice, Hoop girls top 100 #2, behind Lauren Betts from Colorado, whom both Cora Close and AJ coached on the 2021 USA U19 World Cup Team, now at Stanford. UCLA graduated Ilmar'i Thomas who hurt us the most in our semi-final in the WNIT I believe. Tough game again for sure.
If we get by UCLA, we get a try at Tenn/ Rutgers winner, Tenn ranked #5 , that'd be a hoot to watch that game, if we would prevail again , we'd draw the winner of the other side of the bracket, which includes Louisville vs Gonzaga, Texas vs Marquette. Texas is ranked #3 and Louisville # 7. If we lose a game along the way, we still get our 3 games ( 2 if we lose to UCLA or 1 more if we win hopefully our1st two games ) in, with a quality field.
Then comes the piece de resistance our game with #1 South Carolina on Dec 15th. AJ will give his team a challenging schedule with those teams you just mentioned added in. Looking forward to it, getting better and better with each game is the goal.

I'd be happy with .500 win % with the schedule we have if I were a coach if we beat one of the powerhouses or at least battle em all pretty close as to scare them a little, maybe draw some attention. Even those who aren't so called elite teams, some of them are dang good also. Top 5 is really. really rare air so to speak . Hope we get off to a great start this year, they work so hard they deserve to get rewarded if we have the good fortune to capitalize on a very challenging schedule.

Even with the injuries, I am looking for the Holy Cow performances. Which of the freshmen will be a spark early? Even though there are many returning minutes, the need for bench support is never to be overlooked.

I can't seem to find the post again, but there was a picture on twitter with Dru having a brace on her knee in practice clothes. This is encouraging that the injury was not season ending and she is at least going to attempt to play through. I am still curious about the time table for the return of Paige.

Curious to see what a lineup with no true point guard looks like if Dru misses a few games. Are one of the true freshman ready to start day one? Does Brooklyn Meyer move into the starting role and push Timmer to the point guard position similar to the WNIT run?
but that is NOT what i expect
paige was ready on day one last year
and i am still holding a grain of salt, you hear a lot of things about recruits, and of course people do tend to get excited about recruits
but that said, everything i have heard about these two guards is that the expectations are VERY HIGH, and my guess is that they will be ready to contribute immediately. ready to star?? i dont know, maybe just ready to contribute and grow into more, much like timmer did last year, there will be NO REASON they need or have to be stars early, but i think the expectation is that both guards and brooklyn make meaningful contributions this season, with the potential for more
