  • KState vs SDSU 2pm Frost Arena Midco/ESPN+

KState comes to Frost with an 8-2 record. The Wildcats are picked 8th in the preseason Big 12 poll. The losses are to Top 25 programs. They have 2 convincing wins over NDSU and Omaha. The 8 wins may be without the "signature win", but it is 8 wins. Ayoka Lee is the 6'6" post who is the preseason first team choice in the Big 12. She shoots 57%(22.8 ppg), collects 10.7 rebounds, and rejects 3.8 shots per game. She is joined in double digit points by 6'1" freshman guard Serena Sundell who has 4.3 assists with 1.9 turnovers per game. The Jackrabbits will need to continue with a stingy defense to limit the Wildcats who shoot 43% as a team. They only shoot 30% from the arc which is only 1/3 of their shots. Lee will make the inside game layups a bit more difficult which is not a problem since the Jackrabbits have many who can sink the 6'-12' shots should they pull up for the shot. Hopefully we have a healthy team to battle the Wildcats and hold them below the 73 point average. The Jackrabbits nearly handled Missouri State with their defense. Today would be a good day to start another home winning streak. Go Jacks!!

This is a very winnable game if they play defense like they did against MSU. But for the love of God, don’t turn the damn ball over 25 times!

Really don’t get why the Athletic Dept didn’t move this game until later in the day.

Not a great start but Myah is back on the court which is great to see.

KSU’s star center is going to kill us. Barreling over our defenders. 16 in the first quarter. Less turnovers and other improvements for us but she alone is going to carry them.

Great comeback in the second qtr with a zone defense. Paige Meyer still struggling with turnovers. She’s young and will figure it out.

Another tough loss. I still think this team will get it together but what a rough non-conference season on and off the court.

Take away Lee, we more than match up with K-State.

The way Lee was gimping the 2nd half, she will be on the injury list soon as they only dressed 7 players and she played 37. She has a nice 4'-6' shot and she is big enough to block Burckhard and others from behind. KState played a good game relying on her size inside. I am not understanding why Meyer is not taking more shots. She took 2 shots.

It's no surprise they went to Lee to salt the game away < 5 min to play & tied up at 71, she scores the last 8 pts for K-State. we really couldn't stop her pretty much the whole game, K-State is very fortunate to have her.

Both our PG's not named Greer were 0-5, Greer went 4-6 and 3-5 (3 pt) for 11 pts , she was way more efficient for this game ,as a result of her efficiency, she played the most minutes. Just my guess. But, Paige can explode for a lot of points in certain games too, as can Lindsey, just not in this one. Good return to action for Myah, she looked smooth sore shoulder and all. Loved it Kallie got a block on Lee, so did the crowd.

Lee just went off for 61 against Oklahoma in the Wildcats drubbing of top 20 rated OU. Girl is a beast.

Her brother Ahjany has signed with St. Thomas. He was highly recruited and had offers from Minnesota and a number of P5 schools. But his stock fell a bit by the end of the AAU circuit, and a number of those offers dried up, so he ended up at St. Thomas. Still a very good player though, and the Tommies are fortunate to get him.

That is a new NCAA record for scoring. The previous record was 60.

Always been fun to follow the local athletes from our area as they make their mark. Lee is just one of many. Byron is an easy 4 hour drive on US Hwy 14. Wonder if she had any interest in the Jacks?
