  • GDT: Jackrabbits vs #12 Cyclones 6:30pm Hilton Coliseum ESPN+

Bill Fennelly is entering year 27 as head coach in Ames. This year he has 2 preseason Big 12 1rst team choices in Ashley Joens & Lexi Donarski(2020-21 Freshman of the Year in Big 12).. The Cyclones are picked to finish 2nd in the Big 12. Omaha was in Ames last week and was beaten 65-38 in front of 9169 fans. 3 starters logged 30+ minutes and 1 starter played 23 minutes. The other starter only played 9 minutes. 4 bench players made double digit minutes. ISU was #15 last year during the trip to Brookings. Can the Jackrabbits make it 2 in a row? Go Jacks!!

So much more depth than a year ago. Our bench just went on a 9-0 run. Theunick didn’t make the trip tonight due to a family issue.

3-17 from 3 pt. 8-15 inside the arc. 1 free throw compared to 10 for Cyclones.

Callie T. is playing well again. Showing some toughness down low.

That half didn't end well but you have your 2 true freshmen (2-12 with 2-TO's) and Greer (0-2 ) out there.
Actually, Burkhard was 3-4 and the rest of the players that were out there were 3-16 with 3 TO's. It not great when you have as many TO's as made baskets.
They are young but with Lindsey and Myah not here and Irwin and Nelson in foul, the depth is being tested.
It is only one game, early in the season and only halftime but we will see how the second half goes.
Games like this will make the team better as the season goes on.

Surprised that Nelson didn't get back on the floor after going out for a break. Thought she was having her best game so far.

Freshmen are 2-12. Irwin & Nelson should be ready for 2nd half with 2 fouls each. 6 minutes for Irwin and 11 for Nelson should be fresh legs.

17% from 3 pt land, either hot or cold this year it seems, need more consistency there, especially against top level teams, kinda fight'n with one hand tied behind your back when that's taken away.

Ia St holding opponents to 20% this year so far, we are at 27% ( we are improving as the game progresses)) in this game so far, they are ranked # 56 in the country in 3 pt defense, with only around 3 gms played. I know stats don't mean much this early considering some games aren't very well matched and the numbers get skewed a little , but safe to say the cyclones are pretty good defending against the three, 3 gms isn't the greatest sample size , but so far they are doing good. That might be part of our problems starting out so slow to hit some shots.

Gotta love that there's no quit on this team. Doing it with absolutely no post game. Don't even enter it into the post.

Brooklyn Meyer, next season should help alot there, maybe 6'3 Nielsen too.

Iowa St wanted this game badly after we rained on their parade last season me thinks.
