The Mavs came out swinging in Game 1. The Jackrabbits had a struggle to score in the first half with only 24 points. The 24 points in the 3rd quarter was great to see. 3-21 shooting from 3pt will not win may games when the better teams come to town. 56% from the free throw line is a bit soft as well. Byom off the bench with 6 points, 4 rebounds, and a block in 7 minutes is noteworthy. I would expect that the starters not named Paiton or Myah will be more efficient today. Lindsey had some foul trouble that kept her off the floor with only 15 minutes. Tylee had 3-10 fg, but she did sink 3-3 ft. Tori picked up 6 boards, 2 assists, and 1 block with her 3-9 shooting. There is plenty of talent with the starters to find a few more points and avoid 14% long distance shots. I would expect a twist today for guarding the post gal and find some personal fouls for her. I expect a larger winning margin today as AJ counters Coach Banks in Game 2, Go Jacks!!

We seem to do this every year in much of the conference season. It's definitely not "new" this year. Often times the third quarter is the only one where the Summit Jacks look like the non-conference Jacks. I've always found that interesting and frustrating. Obviously this half-hearted effort wouldn't work against USD.

Has our shooting ever been this bad? We seem to have gotten better athletes, but mid majors need to be able to shoot to do anything in the NCAA tourney.
