The conference season begins today as the doubleheaders are played in replication in 2 day sets. It also begins with the chance to garner AJ the 500th win of his coaching career. WIU has started slow, but they pulled off the win against the bison on their home court. The 2nd game was not so impressive. The Leathernecks are not shooting well or rebounding well at this point. They are averaging 65 points while giving up 77. The Jackrabbits have not lost to WIU at Frost as they hold the edge 26-2 for the series. Greer should be back on the floor today in the effort to count 500 for AJ. Go Jacks!!

Looks like no Midco/ESPN+. Will need to buy a month of Jackrabbit all-access to watch this weekend. An ardent supporter of the hometown team should go to a game prepared to take offense, no matter what happens.Robert Benchley

Seemed like 1 good quarter the rest was even. Need more bench production."The most rewarding things you do in life, are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.” Arnold Palmer

i think the biggest reason this one felt different is that Myah had an off shooting night. also, Myah, Tori, Haley 3 of our top 6 by playing time, and i would guess by scoring stats too, were 10 for 35 from the field. we have excellent depth but we do not have someone who comes off the bench who is specifically a scorer. it feels like they want stapleton to be that player, but for whatever reason she has not been able to do it consistently at this point. and really that seems the biggest challenge for this team. we have lots of girls who, i would guess it was believed could be scorers when they were recruited but they have been unable to consistently score to this point in their college career. beyond Myah there is not really anyone who can be counted on day in and day out to go out and create offense and be a respected threat to put the ball in the hole. paiton is next most consistent, but she can have serious struggles against quality size. it feels like tori could or should be the best option but she struggled from the field yesterday and that has been much the case all season. something seems to be just a little bit off from last year. she definitely seems to be playing hard and making contributions, as basically the whole team does, but something seems off scoring wise for her. she seems to be missing a lot of shots near the rim. and you could basically go through most of the roster that way. lindsey has always played hard and she has definitely reached a new level this year and def. has hit some big shots but still not consistent scoring. tylee has looked better scoring this year, maybe as well as she ever has. and so excited to have another year of her! but if she could be a consistent scorer she is prob a first team all conf. player. she does everything else so well. it has ALWAYS seemed like she can get into the area in the lane about 6-10 feet almost at will, if she could knock those down consistently no telling how good she would be. anyway this exercise could be carried out with many of them and if even 1 could be consistently counted on it takes the girls to another level, and if 2 of them get there this could have a chance to be an all time great season. it has been pretty special already with 3 wins over ranked teams, but the jacks really do not measure success by what is done in nov. and dec.
