Not a fan of the trying to front their big post defensive philosophy that the Jacks started out with. Too easy to pass over the top and then we have players scrambling trying to help, which leads to fouls. Would rather play behind and make her show some post moves rather than giving up two foot lay-ins.

AJ must have used some strong words of encouragement at the half. The ladies are now at least playing with some energy.

I agree....6'6" is too much, play behind em and force them out of their favorite spots, if you can, make em earn a bucket, box them out if they miss & hope for a over the back, get them in foul trouble, swipe at ball when they catch it on the help, careful not to look like fouling, or refs will call fouls. Just be more disruptive generally speaking.

5-12 from the FT line doesn't cut the mustard either.

Another 9 pts in 27 seconds miracle like against Arkansas a few years back? Guess we can't count on a miracle all the time, was nice being ranked, no matter how short it was, losing to an unranked team at #22 we're probably out. Hope not, but have to be realistic too.

Much better 2nd half. Selland's dumb fouls, horrible start too big a hole to overcome. Nelson needs to get going and everyone needs to be practicing free throws.

Team better realize they need to come out with fire every night, this does hurt an at large resume and seeding.

Not hitting off the glass and around the hoop close is the most disconcerting to me, missed too many too badly, not like the Jackrabbits. When a teams ranked, they have to play like they 've got a big ole target on their back . We play much better at Frost.

It sounds like the Wildcats were a very different team tonight with their post and PG back in the lineup. Will be interesting to see how they fare in Ames next week.

The 6'6" girl was a difference maker. When she was off of the floor and they brought out the 6'7" girl, we abused her. It seemed like we were scared to take on those big girls at the start and jacked up a bunch of missed 3s. When we put the pedal to the metal in the second half, the really tall girl couldn't keep up and we made some headway.

It would have been great to go back a year and have Bultsma to bring in to defend the post. Thankfully not many of the teams the Jacks will face down the road will have that kind of quality size. USD has Sjerven, but she is a different type of big than what K-State had.

You mean one that flops constantly?

                            Two things:

-1. This will hopefully be a wake-up call that reminds the team they can't just show up and win against a decent opponent. They looked only slightly interested in the first half.
-2. Selland better learn quickly how bad we need her on the court for 30+ minutes. Swatting at a player already in position for a layup is not worth the risk of a foul.

Agree, especially early in the game, players have to learn how to read how the ref's are going to call things, some you can't breathe on a player too hard and it's a foul, others it has to be a fat lip before they'll call a foul, but it should be the same standard for both teams, otherwise you have yourself what's commonly referred to as a "homer ref". This is one of the unfortunate aspects to the game, every ref is different, so ea game can be different as to how to play . Basketball used to be called a "finesse" sport, we all know it's not so much anymore, it can be extremely physical, and it's very tricky to be able to use finesse in a sport your constantly being pushed and shoved and swatted at for 40 minutes, but it can be acheived with some mental dicipline I suppose, add in being super competative and wanting to make a difference among other things , makes it even harder....a rather lengthly explanation for just saying, even though it's become an over used cliche, "play smart"

This game is done, harping on it too long isn't good , the women should just learn the lesson learned and keep improving what needs improving...then everything will work out in the long run.

Bad night for the women's team. I have faith that the staff will right the ship. Sometimes a little adversity can be a good thing.
