    Women's Regional, game times and ticket info

    Concordia lost to UMD, 58-57 on their homecourt today!!  This gives UND a shot at hosting the regional.  I sure hope this doesn't happen.

    This likely eliminates SCSU from any chance.  Top 4 schools from the NCC are in, SDSU, NDSU, USD and UND.  Concordia and UMD are in.

    UNK won the RMAC over Ft. Lewis and I suspect these 2 teams will make up the final 8.  

    I see it like this:
    #1 Concordia
    #2 UND
    #3 SDSU
    #4 NDSU
    #5 USD
    #6 UNK
    #7 Ft. Lewis
    #8 UMD

    I suppose USD could fall to the #6 or #7 seed.

    Very optimistic, but NDSU has the potential to be seeded higher than SDSU due to the fact that they made the tournament final while we lost in the semi's. Also, I would suspect that UNK could be seeded ahead of USD due to being a tournament champion. Did UNK win the regular season title in the RMAC as well.

    I'm pulling for Concordia to host as SDSU doesn't have a ton of luck playing in front of a sea of green.

      I believe UNK won both, not sure. I agree with every point you made. I only give SDSU the nod ahead of NDSU because we were both defeated by the same team at the end of the year, we split with them, and we were ranked ahead of them in the region and we are the defending champs. Oh yeah, I also bleed blue.

        We are headed to St. Paul and Concordia University.

        I wasn't too far off.  NDSU did get the #3 seed but a much tougher draw.  SDSU is in great shape!!  

        UNK is a good team but not as talented as USD, NDSU, or UND.  Concordia was defeated by UMD today and I like our chances against either of those teams in the semis.  I see us in the finals against a team that is pretty worn out.  Great draw for the Rabbits.

                The Jackrabbit women, 23-6 for the season, open tournament play against the team they met in the season’s opener, Nebraska-Kearney, 25-5.

                The women’s North Central Region is Friday-Saturday-Monday at the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia-St. Paul. Concordia, 27-3, gets a rematch with Northern Sun opponent Minnesota-Duluth, 20-10, in the first round while South Dakota, 25-7, plays North Dakota State, 23-6, and Fort Lewis, 23-7, tangles with North Dakota, 25-5.

                This is the second year with an eight-team field. Seven of the eight teams which were in the women’s region at Brookings last year, including four from the North Central Conference - SDSU, NDSU, UND and USD - are back this year. The lone newcomer is Fort Lewis from the RMAC. Collectively the teams in this year’s women's region have made 66 NCAA appearances and have a 100-53 record with nine Division II titles - five by NDSU, three by UND and one by SDSU.

                Concordia is 27-3 including 13-2 at home. Its losses have been to St. Cloud State, 72-70 in the season’s opener at St. Paul; at Northern State 69-64, and 58-57 to Minnesota-Duluth in the finals of the NSIC tournament. In addition to winning the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular season title, Concordia has regular-season wins over North Dakota State, 71-70, and South Dakota State, 75-67, both at home. CSP’s Jennifer Pozzani, a 5-7 junior guard, was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Year, and joined on the all-conference team by teammate Kayla Christensen, a 6-foot junior guard. CSP’s Desirae Jones, a 5-6 junior guard, earned honorable mention. Concordia-St. Paul made its first NCAA appearance last year, and lost to USD 83-68 in the first round.

                North Dakota, 25-5, won the North Central Conference postseason tournament, beating North Dakota State in the finals after losing both regular-season games to the Bison. NDSU won the regular season games 76-73 and 75-74, but UND won the Wells Fargo Finals title 80-71. UND also split with both South Dakota State and the University of South Dakota in the regular season but defeated SDSU in the Wells Fargo semifinals.

                North Dakota State, 23-6, was the North Central Conference regular-season co-champion. The Bison beat UND twice, split with SDSU (each winning on the road) but lost twice to USD.

                UND and NDSU are each in the tournament for the 18th time. NDSU has a 46-12 record with five titles while UND has a 28-14 mark with three championships.

                South Dakota State, 23-6, has won the last two regional titles, and is defending national champion. Led by junior Shannon Schlagel, who has already played in 101 games during her career, the Jacks went 1-1 against UND, 1-1 against NDSU and 2-0 against USD in the regular season. In addition to the conference teams, the Jacks also played both Concordia and Kearney in the regular season. The Jacks were NCC regular-season co-champions for the second straight year.

                South Dakota, 25-7, had beaten NDSU twice during the regular season before losing 74-68 in the semi-finals of the Wells Fargo Finals. The Coyotes split with UND but lost twice to SDSU. Led by All-American Mandy Koupal, USD and SDSU met for the regional title last year. USD is in the tourney for the sixth time, and has a 3-5 record.

                Nebraska-Kearney started slow, including an opening game loss to SDSU, 74-56. But the Lopers followed a 2-2 start with a nine game win streak, and bring a ten-game win streak with a 25-5 record into the the regional. Nebraska-Kearney is making its ninth NCAA appearance, with a 3-8 NCAA record.

                Fort Lewis, 23-7, is making its first appearance in the NCAA playoffs. is led by 6-1 junior Amy Mohr, averaging 17.4 points and 7.9 rebounds. Fort Lewis went into the RMAC tourney with 189 three-pointers and had seven players who are double-digits in three-point baskets. Fort Lewis lost to Kearney in overtime during the regular season (74-73), then lost in the RMAC finals.

                Minnesota-Duluth, 20-10, claimed the NSIC automatic qualifier spot by knocking off Concordia-St. Paul 58-57 in the tourney finals Sunday. Katie Pavlich hit a three-pointer give UMD the win. Tanysha Scott was tourney MVP and Lindsey Dietz was also on the all-tournament team. Dietz was the NSIC Most Valuable Player during the regular season. The win marks the second straight year that the Bulldogs have won the conference tournament and fourth time in five years. It also gives UMD 20 wins for the fifth straight season and 10th time in 11 years. UMD is in the NCAA playoffs for the seventh time, and has a 6-6 tourney record.

                      I will be on the campus at Concordia U. Friday night and I want as many Jacks fans there as possible.  Here are a couple of links with a map and directions.  No excuses, take Friday afternoon off and drive over to St. Paul.  (How do I create a hyperlink so I can shorten and rename these website addresses?)

                      They will only be able to accomodate 2,700 fans which should be alright on Friday night but might be a problem on Saturday, a big problem if NDSU, UND, SDSU and Concordia all win.

                          Great question, I don't know but I suspect that you can.  If not you could just purchase the tourney pass for $25.00 and this will take care of it.  I can't imagine that the afternoon session will be over before 5:00 pm.

                          Bigger question:  Can we get WNAX in St. Paul?  If not how are we going lo listen to the Jacks play NSU on Saturday and see the women play (if the women win)?  The men start at 6:00 pm MST which means 7:00 pm in St. Paul.  Women would play at 8:00 pm if they win.  This will be problematic.

                            I get the WNAX signal on the west side of the Metro and all the way up to Plymouth. If you stay away from power lines your ok. A radio signal on a headset could be sketchy in the building.

                              I get WNAX in my car (pretty sketchy), but not in my house. I live close to the U in Minneapolis, so I'm some what close to Concordia. I couldn't find a headset when I wanted to listen to the Jacks while at a hockey game, so I'm not sure if it would come in.
