DWU's Lein resigns; Fish, Barry take jobs

. . .former South Dakota State standout Lori Fish takes over the women's program at MSU-Mankato. . . .

Fish, 36, has served as an assistant coach at St. Cloud State since 1999.

The 1991 SDSU grad also served as an assistant coach at SDSU from 1996-99 and was a graduate assistant with the Jackrabbits for two seasons.

The St. Cloud, Minn., native was a two-time all-North Central Conference performer at SDSU. . . .

Congratulations and good luck to Lori.

Mav fans are excited about the long overdue replacement of the head women's coach. It has been a long dry spell at MSU in basketball, especially women's. Hopefully Ms. Fish can get the program competitive and headed toward the upper echelon's of the league and region.

A small blurb in the Argus this morning says that Lisa Kannigater, former SDSU player and team mate will become Lori Fish's assistant at Mankato

Lisa is turning out to be as good of a coach as she was a player for SDSU.  She took a real hapless Women's program at Brookings High School and made them the Class AA champs in South Dakota this year.  So my high school has lost a good coach to MSU-M.  Between Lori and Lisa, Mankato's program should start to show some sucess, and make UND and SDSU recruiting in Southern Minnesota a little harder.  I am glad SDSU is going D1 as getting those Mankato-Rochester area recruits will become a little harder to come by.

It there are any more Pundenz girls that are still in high school, they are not likely to be wearing green and white.
