LOS ANGELES - The coast-to-coast-and-beyond voyage of South Dakota State's move to Division I hits the bright lights and sun-kissed streets of Hollywood today.

The Jackrabbit women's basketball team will face the University of Southern California at 4 p.m. today at the Lyon Center. SDSU is currently 6-2 on the season, including a 3-2 record against Division I opponents after topping Texas State on Monday.

Today's game against the Trojans (4-2) is the Jacks' last in an eight-game road swing that began in California and included a trip to an all-Division I tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands. . . .

Senior forward Shannon Schlagel leads the Jackrabbits with 16 points and 6.3 rebounds a game. She moved into fifth place all-time in scoring (1,584 points) and third place in rebounding (878 ).

USC is led by 6-foot-2 forward Jamie Funn's 10.4 points a game. The Women of Troy's only losses have come to No. 20 DePaul (99-77) and No. 6 Notre Dame (60-56).

It's the first meeting between the two schools. USC, a two-time national title winner, will play in Brookings next year.

Working all day today so I will need some timely updates on both games. Appreciate any help from those listening. Should be able to compete in both games and maybe get a W or two.
