I didn't see the live feed on MTSU's site...but, have the game on the radio...faint reception from the Brookings station...sound like a great contest.

Rabbits 11-4, Middle Tenn State, 7-5. Middle Tenn State isn't rated but has a high RPI rating.

                    Great win on the road.

Let's start lobbying for SDSU women in the N.I.T. Great for the sport: the real Cinderella team.

GREAT WIN! This team continues to impress. It's interesting to listen on the other teams radio network. As we continue to win DI games on the road it's going to be harder to get teams to come to Brookings.. The women's success is worth the move to DI by itself!

I noticed one of the Middle Tenessee State's wins was against Big 10 Wisconsin. They lost to our next opponent Alabama by 14.

I listened to the MTSU coaches interview - here are some quotes from her...

                          "SDSU is so talented"
"This was the most physical game she had coached in 17 years of coaching"
"MTSU played very good-not ashamed to loose to SDSU"
"SDSU is 10X better than Univ. of Cincinnati"

Their top player said this is the fastest paced game that she had played in. "nobody could handle that number 42" (Shannon Schlagel)

MTSU is the defending Sun Belt Champs

Their coach said nobody had ever heard of SDSU-They have now...
                          Way to go JACKS!!!!!!!

Listened to the Post game show with MTSU coach Stephanie Smith. She commented the Jacks were "extremely talented and so physical". She went on to say "this was the most physical game in my 17 year coaching career". "They fight so hard". "This is a team nobody else has heard of and then you look at the quality schedule they have played". She also said "SDSU is 10 tens times better than their last opponent Cincinnatti". NDSU plays one of their few DI games against Cinncinatti. Coach indicated they could only go with a 6 man rotation because of the physical nature of the game and that hurt them as they got tired. A player who was interviewed also commented on how physical. Great stuff! Bring on Alabama!

                              DeBoer's Basket Gives SDSU Victory

MURFREESBORO, TN - Sarita DeBoer scored off a rebound with 23 seconds left as South Dakota State defeated Middle Tennessee State 58-56.

Shannon Schlagel, who led the Jacks with 26 points, missed a drive to the basket but DeBoer picked up the loose ball and scored to give SDSU its fifth victory against a Division I team. Middle Tennessee State, 7-5 overall, is the pre-season favorite to win the Sun Belt Conference East Division.

DeBoer finished with 15 points going 5-for-7 from the field and also contributed seven rebounds with three blocked shots.

Schlagel vaulted past Jennifer Johnson (1,676) and Brenda Davis (1,688) into second place on the SDSU career scoring list. She now has 1,696. She hit 10-of-15 field goal attempts including three three-pointers and added seven rebounds with five steals.

SDSU fell behind 7-0 and trailed most of the first half. The Jacks caught up at 21 and took the lead on a three-pointer by Schlagel, which gave the Jacks a 28-25 halftime advantage.

SDSU starters scored all but three points. Andrea Verdegan’s three-point basket accounted for all the scoring by the Jackrabbit bench.

The Jacks had a 43-28 rebounding advantage. SDSU was 22-of-55 from the field, 40 per cent, while MTSU was 23-of-53 for 43.3 per cent. The free throw line hurt MTSU, which was just 8-for-17. SDSU was 9-for-12 at the line.

SDSU, now 11-4 overall, will play Alabama Wednesday. Alabama beat Middle Tennessee 80-66 earlier this year.
