Chad Lavin was on with Craig and Mike today. He was talking about how good the NCC is in womens basketball as evidenced by the success SDSU is having with it's DI schedule. He went on to say he doesn't think SDSU would be favored to win the conference this year. What a joke. Craig or Mike didn't challenge him, but Mike did say after he got off that he disagrees that he feels State would be tough to beat in the NCC. Lavin also talked about losing the State rivalary. He felt it would be a long time before the NDSU game would have that same kind of intensity. I disagree I don't think it will take long especially in womens basketball. Lavin also joked that first he thought he was on the Jackrabbit report and State fans wouldn't like to hear what he has to say about DI athletics. Maybe has something to do with his departure from Wyoming. Never liked this guy and heard nothing on that interview to change my mind.

As far as NDSU goes, he must have missed the Dakota Marker game in Brookings last Fall- I couldnt attend but I watched it from a sports bar in Dallas with 100+ SDSU/NDSU fans. Felt like a rivalry to me...

Re: Chad Lavin on KWSN
If I could make a suggestion to Craig and Mike.....
I would like to hear you ask tough question's to interviewees (sp). I know you've said before that your attempting to make your guests feel more comfortable and that you already know the answers to the questions you ask. Is it possible not agree with someone your interviewing and engage them in a debate? I did notice the other day that one of you got a little excited (I think it was Craig) when talking about Randy Moss, "I'd be all over his a$$" if he walked out on me. I'd like to hear more controversial questions. Just my humble suggestion...

They want to be everyones friend who comes on the show. I think you can be respectful and still ask the difficult questions. Take notes from Dan Barrerio who is not afraid to ask Mike Tice tough questions on his show.

Re: Chad Lavin on KWSN
Sour Grapes on Lavin's part. He would have come off better being humble and saying that SDSU would been the favorite (even if he did not mean it). I suppose he's upset that USD women do not have much of a team now that Koupal is gone. Cut Mike a little slack - he did say that he did not agree with Lavin.

Re: Chad Lavin on KWSN
Yeah, well, Chad baby, the Lady Jacks are in Tuscaloosa tonight playing the Alabama freakin' Crimson Tide, and next year the Tide rolls into Frost Arena.
Meanwhile, USD awaits a home game against Augustana.
Have a nice day."I think we'll be OK"

Re: Chad Lavin on KWSN
What I don't get is who gave USD the authority to become labeled "South Dakota's Team" as indicated by the I-29 billboard as if no other college resides in the state. I take offense on behalf of ALL the other SD colleges and universities within this state!! It's OK to take pride in your university, but don't advertise like it's the ONLY "good" option, whatever that might suggest.

Re: Chad Lavin on KWSN
It's OK . . . South Dakota's REAL team is down in Alabama tonight . . . trying to go unbeaten against the Southeastern Conference this year.
CORRECTION: GOING unbeaten against the SEC in 04-05."I think we'll be OK"

I do agree with Lavin that our success in womens basketball shows how tough the NCC was. I think everyone would agree with me on that. I do think that we would have been favored to win the NCC this year though. I don't think Lavin feels USD would have been. I've heard him on the radio say they are really going to struggle this year. He must think UND would have or something, I don't know.
I think our football rivalry with NDSU can be more intense, if it's not already. I do think it will be a while before our basketball rivalry is as intense. Maybe I'll be wrong about that.

Re: Chad Lavin on KWSN
I've seen the billboard, and it is not like the Duke situation. It is like the Cowboys or the Braves being America's team. Whoever else comes up with it first, claims it. Claiming something doesn't make it so.

That's exactly what he meant. He was not being disrespectful to SDSU. Based it on the recent history of the NCC and fact Jacks lost a couple of good players from last year's squad. See related post on Alabama thread.
