The Mystics also addressed a need to bolster depth at small forward by drafting 5-foot-11 Megan Vogel from South Dakota State in the second round with the 19th overall pick. Vogel averaged 15.4 points for South Dakota State, a Division I independent since moving up from Division II in 2004, Vogel's sophomore year.
"I would say this is one of the best unknown players in the draft, but people did know about her," Hargrove said of Vogel, who enhanced her reputation during the pre-draft camp.
"She is really complete. There is no flaw in her game. As you looked at all the other players in the draft, there were very few complete players."
Vogel averaged 15.4 points during her college career and shot nearly 40 percent from three-point range.

I think you may have a windows update problem. Turn off windows update, reboot your computer, automatically update with windows update from you all programs start menu and then try the video. Where can we find videos like this from Adam V. and Adam T.?? Megan Vogel is a special human being. That is a credit to her family, her community, her teaches, SDSU, her teammates and her coaches. What a privelage I consider it to have known her has a basketball player. I am now so intrigued tha I must get to know her has a person. I will definitely make that one of my goals. She is an excellent role model and my daughters already feel like the know her and look up to her thanks to clips like these. Well, Megan Vogel's summer vacation plans are ruined. Turns out she won't be visiting the nation's capital, she'll be moving there for a job. And not long after being selected by the Washington Mystics with the 19th pick in Wednesday's WNBA Draft, the South Dakota State senior forward was focused on getting to work.
"I don't think it's actually going to hit me until I get out there and I'm trying out for the team," said Vogel, who sought the refuge of the weight room to calm pre-draft nerves and had a workout planned for that night, as well.
"It's a great feeling today, but this is where the work starts. I haven't made a WNBA team yet. I have to make sure I'm as prepared as I can be and that I have something they want. There's no question this is great and this is a fun experience, but I have a lot of work to do in the next three weeks.
Then again, consider what she's accomplished over the past four years. Recruited by SDSU when it was still at the NCAA Division II level, she wound up leading the school to the quarterfinals of this year's WNIT - previously, no reclassifying program had so much has been invited to the event - and on Wednesday became the first South Dakota college player drafted in the 11-year history of the 13-team WNBA. . . . Washington Mystics take Megan Vogel in second round

Megan Vogel had dreamed of playing professional basketball, ever since she was old enough to dribble the ball. But as her career unfolded, first at St. Peter High School and then at South Dakota State, more and more people told her that she had a chance to realize those dreams.
“I’m a small-town kid, and you never think those dreams will come true,” Vogel said. “But this is unbelievable, I’m waiting to wake up.”
The Washington Mystics selected Vogel in the second round of the WNBA draft Wednesday. The 5-foot-11 forward from South Dakota State was the 19th player chosen in the draft, which was televised on ESPN.
“The place just erupted,” said Vogel, who had gathered at a sports bar in Brookings, S.D., with family, coaches and teammates. “It was a great experience.”
Vogel, who ranks second in South Dakota State women’s basketball history with 1,850 points and fifth with 783 rebounds, averaged 17.5 points last season, leading the Jackrabbits to a 25-6 record. She shot 49.8 percent from the field, including 39.5 percent from 3-point range. She holds program records for single-season free throws (154), career free throws (492) and career attempts (633).
She started all 120 games of her career.
Vogel said that Mystics told her they had been watching her for the last year-and-a-half, monitoring her progress. Vogel fits well into the up-tempo style of the Mystics, who ranked second in the WNBA with 80.8 points per game. She said that Minnesota and Connecticut had also shown strong interest leading up to the draft.
The WNBA uses a pay scale for players. Wednesday’s top picks can receive up to $43,200, and the rookie minimum salary is $32,400 for the four-month season.
Vogel said that rookie orientation begins in two weeks, with training camp beginning April 22. Washington opens the preseason May 4 at Chicago, then begins the regular season May 19 at home against Connecticut. On July 20, the Mystics play the Minnesota Lynx in their only game at Target Center.
“It would be unbelievable (to play in that game), the only thing better would be to play that close to home every game,” she said. “If I make the team, I hope everyone from Brookings can make the trip and see the game. It’s definitely one of those games I’ll have circled on the schedule.”
The Mystics, who were 18-16 last season, selected Bernice Mosby, a forward from Baylor, in the first round and Gillian Goring, a center from North Carolina State, in the third round.
Gustavus Adolphus senior Bri Monahan was not among the 39 players selected and would be available as a free agent.

I just hope that all SDSU athletes (and everyone in Jackrabbit Nation for that matter) are taking a close look at what Megan has done and how she has done it.
That girl knows the secret to success, folks. Love what you do, and commit yourself totally to doing it, and figure out a way to make it fun. You hear it constantly, but sometimes you are privileged to see the results, and those results look a lot like Megan Vogel.
