  • Re: Megan Vogel

I agree with Catchem and since he is speaking from experience, he knows that he had to work under the guidance of assistants and the head coaches. With Megan the same applies and she wants to learn how to coach so I would be surprised
if she went off on an ego trip that would be disruptive. That does not seem to be her character.

I really think it would be great if she got the Woman of the Year Award. That would be a big first for SDSU. I can't think of anyone thats been this close to this type of an award other than Josh Ranek and Jeff Tiefentaller being finalists for the Harlon Hill Award in the days of D2. This nomination is big for Megan and SDSU.

Just curious, with training camp and the season coming up, is Megan receiving any looks for the W again?

She'll be finding out in the next month or so where she'll be going. I assume she's locked a spot for the Washington Mystics for their pre-season roster. But she'll have to see what other teams are looking at her.

I don't think she'll be with the Mystics. But I'm told there are several teams talking to Megan's agent. She'll be in camp with somebody.

I think that last year's assistant coach from the Mystics is now the head coach at Atlanta. That might be a place to look also.

Going with the Lynx would be great for Megan and her fans in SDSU-Land.

I'm glad to hear she is going to get another opportunity. She would be an asset to an WNBA team with her heart, desire, talent, and work ethic. It's really exciting to hear she may be playing close to home so that her fans could get a better opportunity to cheer her on.

                        Best of luck Megan!

I would suspect Megan is wrapping up her duites as GA and moving on to the Lynx in the next several days. I want her to know how grateful the fans of the Jackrabbit Women's Basketball team are for her coming back and helping the coaches and players this year. As has been said many times Megan's mark on Jackrabbit basketball is indelible and will always remain for future Jackrabbits to aspire to no matter where she goes to play or coach.

I think she needs to know how her Jackrabbit friends and fans are behind her each step of the way. I will be at the May 1 home game against Conecticut with my blue and gold on yelling and screaming for the Lynx and Megan just like I do for the Jacks.

Good Luck Megan, the thoughts and prayers of alot of people are with you during this exciting time in you life.

Does anyone know who the other 2 free agents that Megan will be competing for a roster spot and what their depth is at it relates to the guard position. I think it would be a wise marketing decision by the Lynx to have some local talent on the team especially someone with Megan's abilities. The Lynx errored in my opinion when they failed to draft or trade for Gopher standouts Lindsay Whalen and Janel McCarville who have both gone on to star in the WNBA. Whalen is the best player I have ever seen come out of Minnesota and I would put Vogel right behind her. I think the WNBA needs a local flavor to meet their attendence goals.
