    Re: S. Illinois(Women)

I read somewhere on this board that SIU was concerned about SDSU and what they can do. SIU may have been extrally prepared for this game. Maybe our ladies were off and the big win on Thursday over Wisconsin was probably still lingering in their mind. Maybe it just was hard to get into the game face and mind for this game. Just my take. We no doubt could have played better. Coach will work hard on the weak points that is certain.

There seems to be a pattern starting with a couple wins then a loss. I hope we can put a long win streak together. If this does stay to form we could finish 17-9 at this rate which is not bad but could be better. Does show the traits of a young team.
My guess is one of the hardest things to do at the D-I level is get consistent high performance out of 18- to 22-year olds.

Those teams that do that tend to win lots and lots of games, even without absolute top-tier talent. Those are the teams nobody wants to play in the first round of the NCAA tournament. That's the kind of team we want to be at SDSU, I think. We're very close now with the women's team, and I don't think the men's team is really that far away, either, despite recent struggles.

Those teams that combine that consistency of effort with top talent become the Tennessee Lady Vols, UConns, and Dukes of the world.
