This one was so reminiscent of the Colorado State game. I had a chance to watch the Lady Jacks do the same thing, get a big lead and outplay CSU and then have a big CSU run. We won by a little more there, because they had to foul us and we made the free throws.
How about Jenny Warkenthien. She pulls down a big rebound against Ward to keep her from making a basket, misses her free throw, but then gets another big rebound and makes two free throws. What a gamer. And the SDSU freshmen keep looking brighter. Natalie Carda is starting to come on, and Morgan Meier is playing very good when she gets in.
WOW -- beat two Big 12 schools in Nebraska and Colorado State, and then top it off with a win over the Big 10's Badgers. Doesn't get much better than that!!
GO JACKS!!!
Add in some potential wins against SEC Alabama and another Big 12 school in Colorado and we could be in a great position for the NIT. For us to be 5-2 after the opening schedule we've played is amazing. Our schedule gets alot easier in the second half of the season as we don't play any teams from a major conference after the Colorado game on Dec. 28th. We could realistically end up with anywhere from 18-22 wins this season, and if we do, there is no way we don't get an invite to the NIT.

Colorado State is actually MWC I think, but they are still a very good team. It doesn't change the fact that the Jacks have a very good team.
I admit i dont know much about bb. I have a question for anyone. This is about the NIT. Would they invite the jackrabbits even though they didnt play any top 25 teams? If the jacks record is great will they look at that instead. Any thoughts
This game was supposed to right the ship for Lisa Stone's squad after losing their last 3 games, all to Big East schools. The Jackrabbits of South Dakota State had other things on their minds, forcing 26 turnovers and getting 22 points from them. SDSU came out shooting and took a 16 point lead into the break. After the break they were able to keep it going stretching the lead to 21, five and a half minutes in, but then something finally clicked for the Badgers as they went on a 19-0 run over the next 8 minutes to close the gap to 2. But that's as close as they would come, a clutch 3 from Wisconsin native Andrea Verdegan and a couple free throws from Jennifer Warkenthien sealed the deal and completed the upset 68-65. Offensively when the Badgers were able to hold onto the ball they shot fairly well, 45% but again were unable to hit from the free throw line making just 14 of 23. Janese Banks led the Badgers with 15 points to go along with a career high 12 boards. Next up is a trip to Kansas on Sunday for a 1pm tipoff.
Great job Jacks ;D

MADISON, Wis. - A look of panic whitened nearly every single South Dakota State women's basketball player. After hitting an emotional peak with a surprising 21-point lead early in Thursday's second half at Wisconsin, gleeful smiles turned into a grueling six-minute reality check.
A young, Division I independent team was on the road against a Big Ten bully that had somehow conjured a 19-0 run to turn a blowout upset into a one-possession game.
Showing the moxie they've become known for since their final years in Division II, the Jackrabbits didn't wilt. Freshman Jennifer Warkenthien atoned for a missed free throw 12 seconds earlier by hitting a pair with 8.7 ticks on the clock, then watched as the Badgers' Janese Banks airballed a 3-pointer as time expired to allow SDSU to escape the Kohl Center with a 68-65 victory. . . . Congratulations on the win over a Big Ten team, it's definately a character building event. It's easy to have your confidence shaken when a big lead evaporates, but it is a real gut check to hang on for the win.
