  • Long Beach State (Women's)

Well I made it to So. Cal and will be attending the Long
Beach State game, my first SDSU game in 2 years. I was looking at the LBSU site and see that the game has a web-cast. Here is the link

    http://www.longbeachstate.com/bko/bkw/skedbkw0506.html

If you click on the flag on the link, it will open up a media screen so you can watch the game.

Jacks a little shakey early and trail 20-12 with about 8 min to play.  12 points in 12 minutes, need more than that.

Jacks bounce back and close the gap, Jacks now trail by 2 with 1 min in the first half.

Well, maybe I'm dead wrong, Jacks get back into the game with the 3-pointer.

Not playing well enough on the inside defense but staying in the game with the outside shot.

          Halftime Jacks trail 29-28.

Is anybody watching the internet feed of the game. 30 second delay but good to watch none the less.

Nice move by Vogel to go up 34-32.

Not watching the feed, watching the kids.

Jacks always in the game, trail by 4. These girls really deserve a win here.

Cut it to 2, 54-52 about 3 minutes to play.

I got home in time to catch the last 4 minutes or so. I wish the Jacks had a webcast like that, but there are probably more important ways to spend money right now. Football scholarships for one.

Was the game close all the way?

Pretty much close all the way. LBSt did have a run early in the 2nd half to take a 10 point lead but Voegel lead us back. Tough loss for the Jacks. 28 3-point shots just seems like too many.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Karina Figueroa hit a basket to put Long Beach State ahead and Jayne Connors added two free throws with 12.8 seconds to play as The Beach held off South Dakota State 58-55 in women’s basketball Friday night.

A 12-0 Long Beach run put the Jacks down 44-34 before SDSU rallied to regain the lead at 53-52 on a three-pointer by Andrea Verdegan.

Long Beach got a pair of free throws from Crystal McCutcheon for a 54-53 lead, but SDSU went back on top on a pair of free throws by Megan Vogel with 57 seconds left.

After Figueroa’s basket, with 41 seconds left, SDSU missed a shot and Long Beach rebounded setting the stage for the free throws by Connors.

Vogel’s three point attempt just before the buzzer missed and the Jacks dropped to 7-6 with their third straight loss.

Long Beach State improved to 7-4 and gave coach Mary Hegarty her 200th career win.

LBSU out-shot SDSU 34.9 per cent (22x63) to 31.1 per cent (19x61), had a 46-44 rebound advantage and the Jacks committed 23 turnovers.

Vogel led the Jacks with 24 points but was the only SDSU player in double figures. Jennifer Warkenthein had nine points and a team high ten rebounds.

McCutcheon led LBSU with 20 points while Connors had 10 and Meghan Griffith had nine rebounds.

SDSU will play at Idaho State on Monday.

Wow 28 3-pt attempts. They seem to be cold from beyond the arc lately. Hopefully that changes or another player steps up.
