Sieler Leads Jacks To Fifth Straight Victory

EDINBURG, TX - Heather Sieler scored 17 points, had six steals and three assists to lead South Dakota State to its fifth straight victory, 65-48 over Texas-Pan American in non-conference women’s basketball Saturday night.

The Jacks trailed 37-35 at halftime, but dominated the second half, holding UTPA to just four field goals and 11 points after intermission.

The game was tied at 40 when the Jacks went on a 12-0 run, capped by a Megan Vogel three-pointer to lead 52-40 with 11:16 to play.

Sieler hit 3-of-4 three-point attempts. Reserve Jennifer Warkenthien hit 4-of-5 field goal attempts and scored 11 points while Vogel finished with 10. Reserve Natalie Carda led the Jacks on the boards with seven rebounds.

SDSU, now 15-8, will play at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday. TAMCC is 13-9 after defeating North Dakota State 59-36 Saturday night.

Very impressive comeback for the Jacks. The game summary indicates the attendance was only 265. Sheesh. That's very un-Texas-like.
