    Re: Virginia

Baylor, or UCF for the next game tomorrow.....probably Baylor. They are coming off a 64-60 win over #9 LSU. Can't wait. This will take precedence over my deer tag tomorrow.

Nice win by the women's team again. They are now 4-0, and every team they have played this year has been either ranked in the top 25 or at least received votes for the top 25. Each team they have played has been a quality opponent. If Baylor wins the next game, SDSU will play another ranked team in Baylor.

        Congratulations again!!

Another great win for the women! They just continue to make us proud!

I can't wait for the game tomorrow against Baylor. They are ranked 15th in both the AP and USA Today polls. Virginia was ranked 26th in the AP poll.

A win against Baylor would almost have to move us into the top 25!

                Good luck ladies!

                  Re: Virginia

You would think a win would move us into the Top 25 but in all likelihood it won't. By the end of December if we got 8 or 9 more wins against tough teams we might get some props from the voters. Our name has to get out more before we get all those votes. Games like this and USC help get the name out.

                        POSTGAME QUOTES

                        Debbie Ryan, Virginia head coach
Were you surprised by SDSU's athleticism:
"No, we weren't surprised at all. They're very athletic; they're very strong; they play a very physical brand of ball. That bothered a little bit; out first-years haven't seen that yet, because we really haven't played a physical ball club yet. This is the first game we've played that's been really physical. I just think we've just had so many things happen in the last week that it's been difficult to adjust to. Our freshmen just have to step up more. It's hard for them, because they're still really getting into the groove."

                        Junior Sharnee Zoll
                        On SDSU's physical game:
"They're really physical. I think that bothered us a little bit. We haven't played a team that physical yet. We will in the ACC, but we hadn't faced one (prior to today). They are great shooters, but they proved they could get to the basketball really well also. I give a lot of credit to them."

Vogel, Jacks Continue To Roll; Beat Virginia 62-55

South Dakota State's women have knocked off another big-time basketball program.

Playing in a tournament in the Bahamas, the Jackrabbits defeated Virginia 62-to-55 to remain unbeaten on the young season.

Megan Vogel scored 15 points and Jennifer Warkenthien had 12 points and nine rebounds to lead South Dakota State to their fourth win.

Sandra Littles scored a game-high 18 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for Virginia.

The Jacks, in their third year of Division One play, jumped out to a 36-to-32 lead at the halftime break.

SDSU had a three-point lead with less than a minute to play -- and got five points from Andrea Verdegan to help seal the win.

Just so people know, 104.1 is the dial location for WNAX-FM and it can be picked up in Sioux Falls in the evening. It is a great add to the radio network for those in SF.

Baylor beat UCF 78-48. Another tough game, but would you really want it any other way? UCF didn't look very good, to be honest, but we only watched the first half.

We're pretty sure you heard us on the radio . . . Scotty K. said he turned up the crowd noise a couple of times on the broadcast.

                                Can anyone comment on this:

                                Quote from Virginia Athletic Website:

"In the first half, the teams played a close game with neither leading by more than four points. With 4:47 left on the clock, senior captain Siedah Williams (Cleveland, Ohio) left the game with a leg injury after she was pushed out of bounds following a lay-up attempt. She did not return to action. South Dakota State closed out the stanza with a 13-5 run to take a four-point lead into the locker room, 26-32."

Whats that all about with the "pushed out of bounds?" Thoughts?????? Just curious what really happened
