Massey has the Jacks at 46.

It will be fun to watch these as more games are played and the rankings become more meaningful.

        Re: National Rankings

I noticed the #9 ranking as well, but it's not much to get excited about at this point. Notice that Maryland, ranked #1 in the AP and USATODAY/ESPN polls isn't even listed, nor is Duke, and a whole bunch of other top 20 teams. And this is just one of many rankings. But you're right in that it is still fun in house to see that. We need to beat Virginia at the Junkanoo Jam, which would get us into a final with Baylor in the Lucaya Division of that tournament. And Baylor would definitely be a big-time opponent.

        GO JACKS!!!!

Most of the computer-based rankings don't start giving reliable results until New Year's.

Still, #9 in the RPI is very, very cool. Now we just need to stay there. Beat Virginia! Beat Baylor/UCF!

                  Ap poll

                  http://sports.espn.go.com/ncw/rankings?poll=1

usc drops out of the poll and still gets 61 votes
middle tenn state gets 9 votes

And what do we get for beating both teams ZERO

                    Re: National Rankings

Virginia has 82 votes, so they will be a tough team to beat. I see that Kent St. also got 7 votes. Of course Baylor is ranked, and if we can beat Virginia then we may be able to play them too. The women's team has a really tough schedule, which can be a difficult thing to get as an independent. The schedule makers did a great job on the schedule.

                    Go State!!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

                      Re: National Rankings

My guess is that enough voters do not know about the Great jackrabbit Nation yet. But, they will in time.

                        Re: National Rankings

If we come back from the Bahamas 5-0, they'll be aware. If we come back 4-1, and play Baylor within 5 points, we'll get noticed. 5-0, with wins over rated teams who were in the NCAA or WNIT last year, should get the writers/coaches paying attention. If I was Virginia, Baylor or Cent. FLA, I'd have to posted about the #4 SDSU team.

Reading the USC blurb before the game, it read like we were a warm-up game to the Ohio St. game. That's the time to strike and we did a superb job of jumping all over the women of Troy.

GREAT PRESSURE AND SUCCESS TO THE LADIES IN THE BAHAMAS!!!!

                          Re: National Rankings

Is there anything we can do as fans to call voters attention to the Jackrabbits? This may seem like a stupid question this early in the year, but I can't help but think that the more they hear about us, the easier it will be to put SDSU down on their ballot. The sooner the Jacks make the polls, the better the chance they will get post season invitations. We need to get invited to the WNIT so we can start to build a resume for the big tourney in few years. If we don't win the mid-con, a reputation may help in getting an at-large bid. As it stands right now, very few people know about the Jackrabbit women and most could care less. What can we do to speed up that introduction and help the Rabbits' wins get more notice?
