  • Around Frost...Rabbit Den Readers.

I posted this earlier, but deleted it. Over the break randomly placed Rabbit Den Readers, the student's source for news, have been spotted. If you have been able to read one or take a look at them the question is do you like what you see, would you like to see more and have you found them useful. They will continue being randomly placed over break. I hope you enjoy a sneak peak of what the students get to read on a gameday basis. You will be the first to get to see a new look on Sunday when Marquette comes to town before the students. I hope to hear some feedback about what you think of them and if you want to see more laid out.

    Re: Around Frost...Rabbit Den Readers.

I saw a copy of the Rabbit Den Reader at the men's game against Montana State and picked it up. A newsletter like could help stir fan interest, which is good. The inclusion of team rosters in the Den Reader might hurt the Bum (the official program that sells for $3) a little bit in the short term. But the Bum might benefit long term from a little competition. I liked the little section in the Den Reader of quips and insights about the opposing team's players. That sort of stuff has potential to attract a loyal fan following, especially if it takes a light-hearted approach. The newsletter is a good idea and one worth some experimentation.

If anyone who is going to the game is interested in having their own copy of tomorrow's Rabbit Den Reader send me a message with your email and I will send you an email before 9:00 tomorrow morning with a copy of the info and stuff.

Actually when handed out to the students it has no impact on sales of The Bum. Students traditionally haven't brought The Bum. But during break it could hurt some of the sales of The Bum very little.

If you don't get their early there aren't any programs left to buy anyway. It's almost like they only print so many so they will be a collector item. Somebody needs to get the message. > > >

Well the programs were gone 20 minutes before gametime again. I talked to Fred and he acted suprised and said he would pass the inforemation along. Don't hold your breath.

              Re: Around Frost...Rabbit Den Readers.

There certainly was a low supply of programs at the USC game. I wanted one for a keepsake, but they were sold out by the time I got there, which was probably at least 15 minutes before game time. I even looked on the floor for a discarded program after the game and couldn't find one. Could have used a Rabbit Den Reader that night.

Determining the number of programs printed is an inexact science at best. Some games they will all sell out, others there will be a large number left over.

When I was in the athletic department ('00-'03), we would look at historical attendance for an opponent (or like opponent) and number of progams printed, sold and left over to help guage how many should be printed. With today's environment of new opponenets and single game nights it is a crap shoot no matter what. Be patient and let the athletic department get a handle on how many they are selling on a nightly basis and it will get corrected in due time.
