The Jags come to Brookings after losing 2 road games last week. Can the Jags(11-5) lose 3 in a row this year? Since Parkinson has taken over as coach, the Jags are 5-3 against the Jackrabbits. They took the Jackrabbits to overtime last year. The South Dakota water must be good for them or make sure Parkinson does not get a room at the Holiday Inn Express. The Jaguars dropped from the Top 25 Mid Major Poll to receiving votes. They shot terribly at Omaha. They shot well and shot 12 more shots at Vermillion, but the Yotes shot lights out 56% FG and 64% 3 pt FG to win. The Jags will bring some size and athletic players at the 4 and 5 spots. There are 8 players who have significant minutes. There are only 10 players on the box score for the season. This would be a great game for Ober to be in the warm up line. The defense she might bring could be a big help. Palmer and Alexander should continue to improve as starters. The Jags always play the Jackrabbits tough and require everyone to raise their game. The women should respond and send the Jags home with the third consecutive loss on the road. Go Jacks!!

This is one we are probably going to need to get if a regular season title is in the cards. It's hard to say which version of IUPUI will show up.

Just announced on the radio pregame show: Ober is expected to play at some point tonight. There's some good news!

Ober in. After about 2 trips down the court she has a rebound, assist and a 3 point basket.

At the half:IUPUI has just four points in the paint, just 16 shot attempts and has 11 turnovers. That's solid defense.

Lots of points in the paint. Some were layups and some were back door type passes often to Young or Thompson. The ball movement was good most of the game. Jaguars had trouble scoring on the road with only 49 points. Jackrabbits played solid defense and picked up many offensive boards with hustle.

The video feed happened to catch a close up shot of Clarissa as she turned back upcourt after hitting the 3 right after coming in the game, and she had one of the biggest smiles I've seen in awhile. Have to appreciate that she came back that well after missing 3 weeks. She brings some emotion to the game that the team missed while she was out.

Lexi was all over the court,hungry for the ball,great game by her,bringing a lot of energy.Kerri playing her usual "playing hard" game,she has so much stamina.Lots of others playing well too.Good win.Good to have Clarissa back .

And according to Zimmer, we were playing a 2-3 zone. Maybe AJ is trying to help teach the Men's team how to hustle in a zone defense.

We played very little zone. In fact, we had a set where we started in a 2-3 zone and then switched to man during the set. Not sure if that is something AJ is working on to slowly add later in the season. For the vast majority of the game we were in man but played very aggressively and were aggressive in digging down with another player any time Rogers got the ball down low.

He mentioned containing their three point shooting was one of their concerns,and Rogers was being kept pretty much under control,so maybe all that factored in.Lexi getting better at staying out of the reach of taller players when taking her shot while driving to the hoop.Maddie more aggressive driving too.Lots of big moments for many other players too.Both Syd's play getting much better each game.

The team looked really good for the first three quarters. It looked to me like they took their foot off the gas after holding IUPUI to five points in the third. Those 10 minutes, in particular, showed the potential this team has when they are rolling. That level of gritty defensive play is what you want to see emerge as we get closer to March. It has served us well in Sioux Falls for years.

Impressive win, indeed. Kudos to Kerri Young, who seems to be emerging as a team leader. She's really playing well. When she's on and playing aggressively, she's a lot of fun to watch.
