    Re: GDT:SDSU @ Louisville

I'm also happy we recruit in the 5 state region also.We end up with a better than average team, the players seem to get along really well,we get tremendous people recruited and we end up with a winning record each year and usually a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Can't ask for anything more.It works a lot more than it doesn't IMO

Is this written down in a book somewhere? In this book how many bids do the SEC, ACC, Pac12, etc. get?

I believe it's in The Holy Writ, 1 Vitale, verses 1:68, the VESPNers Of St. CoachK, as translated from the original Gibberish.

          Yes. The Book of Precedent.

It's possible to change precedent. Precedent is based on what's happened in the past,by no means an absolute ,more like a variable,a good predictor, but it can be changed.Just arguing the point....lol

Guess we will never win a NC in football then. Damn it.

Makes you look pretty silly donating so much money to the athletic department trying to build a football winner.

Haha. It's a one bid league. Why is that hard for you to accept? Its just that way it is. Could that change? Absolutely. Is there some momentum towards that, there seems to be. I don't see it happening for a few years, if ever. The league is down across the board this year, both men's and women's.

And I don't donate money to win championships. I do it to support student athletes from my community and surrounding communities so I can enjoy some entertainment and they can get a great education. I do expect the best possible effort to win, I think we get that.

Enjoy the conference season and the Summit tourney, both are awesome. If the Jacks stumble and don't make the NCAA, there are other fun post-season opportunities. I think it's naïve to think anyone with knowledge of the way the system works actually thinks the Summit league will get or deserves an at-large bid. Just my opinion.

It can happen but for it to happen someone other then SDSU will need to win some big games against ranked teams, annually. In addition, I think SDSU will need to get to the Sweet 16 a couple of times while a USD or ORU are stepping up their non-conference schedules. It isn't impossible but getting the SLC to two bids will require a school like USD to win some big games during the early season. Beating up on lower level mid-majors and bottom feeder BIG10 teams won't cut it.

No, it actually wouldn't take that. What it would take is for one team to have a special season and for that team to get upset in the SLT. Take our 08-09 season for example do you honestly think that team isn't an at-large team if Oakland had knocked us off in the SLT title game? We ended up a 7 seed. No way we weren't getting into the tourney that year.

Now for it to be a consistent multi-bid league yes what you are saying has to happen. That likely never will. But to have people essentially say it's impossible to get two bids is silly. Takes a special set of circumstances but it's far from impossible.

Edit: I need to add that on the men's side, the road to an at-large is much steeper than on the women's.

The 08-09 SDSU women would have gotten an at-large if they would have gotten beat in the SLT. It's naïve to think they wouldn't have.

I agree with MontanaRabbit on this one,it was even talked about on this very forum how the '08-'09 Wbb team would surely get in the NCAA tournament being a ranked team and with their resume (sp?) and all,if we didn't win the SLT. We were considered a shoo -in.That's two in one year if we didn't win the auto-bid,that's multi tournament bids in my book. I remember someone even joked about us losing on purpose so that the Summit League would get two teams into the NCAA Tournament that yr. Teams are selected based on their own merit ,not conference affiliation, you have to be a worthy team for selection is the only criteria that must be met. Although , it's kind of arbitrary as to who the "selection committee deems worthy" sometimes,I'll admit that.I'd have to look it up,if I could find it again, but I thought I read somewhere where there's only been like 1 or 2 times a ranked team didn't get into the NCAA Tournament.A very, very rare occurence.

Nope I think we won last year. No upset.

Oh right, I forget that a regular season sweep, regular season title, 15-1 record (best in conference history), a SL Player of the year, and a #1 seed in the tourney doesn't make it an upset. My mistake.

Take a look at your non-conference schedule and record last year. That's where you gotta get it done. Dominating Summit teams isn't enough. You have to do that and have a good OOC schedule and dominate it as well. The margin for error is slim. Like 2-3 losses total slim. Not 6.
