Even in our transition years I don't ever remember our team looking scared of any competition. Right now we look lost and scared! It looked like we were playing a game of hot potato....I don't want the ball...don't throw it to me.....here you take it. With that said they were flat out better at every position than we were but at least compete! I might be most disappointed in our freshmen. This has got to be close to an all time low in the confidence department this team is playing with.
AJ wasn't very complimentary of the team's effort on the postgame radio show. He didn't come out and say the team quit, but he said a number of times that the team didn't play with any fight and that has to change. Somebody needs to step up and be the leader on this team. Last year this seemed to come from Gabby and Chloe even though they didn't start - they always seemed to provide a spark and some energy. There seems to be a lot of quiet players on this team who don't show much emotion on the floor. Ober has shown some of this in the past, and hopefully can do it now.
hopefully that was their Cincinnati game and get it together the rest of the season. Macy's 17 to 21 pts per game would have made it look a little better.
My biggest gripe is the amount of energy they expend ,running their plays and when it pays off and they get the ball to someone for an easy lay in .....they miss it....all that effort and energy for nothing....it all adds up over the course of a game as they fall further behind, frustration creeps in compounding the issues, and they rush the shot and miss even more. That ends up as a nice run for the other team.Back to basics, layups, ball handling, making good decisions ,etc. They have to master the basics before they can tackle more complex tasks.
If you watch the top teams, they don't miss simple layups, unless it's under extremely difficult circumstances or a really tough defender making the shot very hard.I'm basically pretty well over the disappointment of losing this game by the margin we did.I don't think it does any good to dwell on the negative too long. It's time to admit the shortcomings, identify the problems, roll up the sleeves and get to work overcoming these issues and move on to a successful season.I'm sure that's probably what they'll do,we have too good of a coaching staff and they won't allow the team to not play to the best of their abilities.
Last year UConn averaged 41 point victories. There were 6 games that they won less than 20 points. The closest game was a 10 point victory over Maryland and then a 12 point win over South Carolina. I do not think we are having problems with the recruits for SDSU. They do a great job getting regional players who are very good student athletes. Once and awhile you get a smack down like this and it is a big adjustment to the attitude.
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife
It's all about the conference season. Nothing else matters at this level. The Summit league is a one bid league. That's it, that's the way it is. All that matters is getting that top 1 or 2 seed and winning 3 games in S Falls. I think this team can pull it together for that.

We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.
