  • GDT: SDSU Jackrabbits vs SIUE Cougars

The Cougars come to Frost to play the 2nd of 3 Summit teams. USD defeated them at the Pentagon on Friday 75-68. The Cougars will host Western Ill in 2 weeks. The Cougars are picked to finish 4th in the OVC. They shot 40% 3pt fg on 10-25 shots against the Yotes. They shot 9-24 from inside the arc. 20-24 from the line was a solid stat for the Cougars as well. The 5th year coach Paula Buscher is 64-59 at her stint at Edwardsville. The Cougars will lack size next to the Jackrabbits. They have 3 players 6' or taller and only 2 of those played against the Yotes. I will be watching for the shot total since they launched 49 compared to USD's 61 while turning the ball over 5 more time than USD. They managed 8 offensive boards compared to USD at 12. Today size should matter for the Cougars and the advantage goes to the Jackrabbits. Go Jacks!!
    Order of Finish Points
    1. Belmont (21 first-place votes) 241
    2. UT Martin (One first-place vote) 220
    3. Eastern Kentucky (Two first-place votes) 190
    4. SIUE 160
    t5. Murray State 146
    t5. Southeast Missouri 146
    7. Tennessee State 138
    8. Jacksonville State 90
    9. Austin Peay 82
    10. Morehead State 75
    11. Tennessee Tech 70

Expect a much smoother game for the Jacks and a chance to clean up their game a little since Creighton(it was a very intense game ,however).Gone will be the apprehension any of the players might have had during the Creighton game about losing a Home opener and against an opponent also receiving votes in the polls.Should be a little bit more relaxed in this one,not complacent, but merely relaxed.

Jacks came out rolling. Lead is currently 18-4 after 5:00. It looks like they are playing a D2 school.

Seems like every time we try to disrupt a shot close to the basket,it works in that we disrupt the shooter enough to make them miss, but in doing so, they get the rebound, goes right to them, and we are out of position,as our player turns to look at the basket and by that time the ball is already headed back to the shooter over their head.Happened three times in a row by one player, very frustrating they get three tries at making a bucket. Not advocating letting them shoot, but when we turn to look at the shot , we could start backing up (blocking out) to force the shooter a little further back and get one of those rebounds.

Subbing pretty frequently now, which we should, get the bench some playing time.

Macy cracks 1000 points and 14 for half. Both Guebert and Young with 11 points at half. It'd be great if can get 3 more to double digit points.

Feed Ober the ball, let her have a chance of getting 1,000 points for her career, at least in games we should win.She needs about 12 a game.Just my sentiment.

Alexander looks impressive off the bench, she's probably our best player off the bench.

did the last part of that Qtr seem a little hectic for a team ahead by over 21 pts?.Oh well.we should have this game.

Flaata's got good height ,she can block some shots.

Get the feeling she just needs to hit one, and she will be fine. We do however need to get more point production off the bench... so far Alexander is it...
